Another RAD Contest Proposal
Re: Another RAD Contest Proposal
All ages look fantastic! I'm glad I don't have to judge this time. Thank you to every contestant, it's very enjoyable to visit your ages.

Just looked through all the ages.
My order of appreciation (not including my own ofcourse
):
My order of appreciation (not including my own ofcourse

- 1st: Tre'bivdil
Good job keeping it interesting Lontahv! Very well textured, especially the wood. - 2nd: Eder Bahvahnin
Can't say I expected less of you, AndyNice job on the moving clouds. The wall textures could use some work though
- 3rd: Eder Licinius
Nice work on using the Z dimension GPPNMilano! The overall color of the age is also pretty nice. - 4th: Bimevi
Intersting place Whilyam.... with a bit of extra work on the textures it'll be a very nice place to be. The vertex coloring is pretty good btw. - 5th: Ulteemah
The textures are nice Bob, albeit a bit repetative - I'd suggest an overall dirt map to make it look less repetitive and clean.
The trees on the top look well-modeled, and the moving elevator is cool too (though it's probably better to have it go up and down on command). - 6th: Tahm Hehvo
Looks nice SeanMc74- is it your first age? Try practicing with texturing - the photorealistic textures look good, but mapping them to look just right is an art in itself.
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.

Re: Another RAD Contest Proposal
it might have been prudent to wait until AFTER the judging process before you posted this ... some may see it as influencing the judges decisions ...
bad call Trylon ...
(especially as you put the only Dev in the competition in "first place" ...

when it comes to Age creation ... "DOH" seems to be my middle name...
Re: Another RAD Contest Proposal
Oh, sorry - hadn't thought of that
I just though to give some personal feedback on things....
Though I don't see how me telling my personal favourites is going to affect the judges - it's not like I have any real power here... and to be honest, I haven't been talking to the dev's in ages...
But I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

Re: Another RAD Contest Proposal
Don't worry, this judge shall not be influenced.
I had already looked at all the Ages anyways, and just need to do my technical reports now. I will try to give each of the contestants some feedback instead of just numbers, which are relatively meaningless without some words.

Re: Another RAD Contest Proposal
LOL. Bob, you don't expect Trylon to be so corrupt to put me in the first place just for being a dev.
Paradox's shell got a pretty good score in the first RAD (I think that's when it was submitted). I think why on the whole the devs that use Blender and make ages don't do so badly is because a lot of us have been making ages (or at least being soaked in Plasma--not me though
) for 3 years or more (and have dealt with Cyan stuff enough to know when something looks like crap compared to their standard).
I remember learning Blender a few months before trying (or wanting) to export ages (this was 3 or so years ago--the prp exporter was rather crude at the time). I wasn't very good at the time but had fun. I think part of what helps is the fact that I didn't set my sights very high at first. I didn't go from 0 to building ages with hundreds of object.
Hehe... MUST NOT LET FIRST MODELS GET OUT INTO THE PUBLIC.
Even Andy is fairly new at modeling in Blender which is why to have done so well as he has is amazing. Actually, most of all of the members of this guild have amazed me with their lightning-fast learning and execution of monster-size projects, as most ages are--at least compared to the norm blender project.

Oh my... it's been three weeks
? aah! when did that happen? I'm sorry about not having the age done... real life got in the way
. I should've known better than to enter a competition which occurred at exactly the same time as end of year exams >_<.
On a positive note, the ages which have been entered look really good
! Great work guys, it's amazing what the GoW create.

It's been a week now... Are the judges finished by now? Or did they run into some unexpected delays?

Re: Another RAD Contest Proposal
I'm guessing they're going to wait until the last hour (GMT) of today to post the results.
