Yes, but Uru:ABM and Uru:CC are not in distribution with the one exception, Uru:ABM is available on Gametap.

But I have no more information than the rest of you, just my theory which happens to support the facts, (at least the ones I know about.)
You may be correct, and Cyan has the freedom to re-release Until Uru. If that is the case, then they may be waiting, hoping to get the newer MOUL engine and ages, or they feel that re-releasing Until Uru would be a step backwards that they are not willing to take.
In the end, we just don't know. Which has lead to all this wonderful speculation.

P.S. Congrats on being the first one to spell my name correctly.

Not that I hold any enmity toward the various other people who have been calling me greendragon, I just find it funny.

On the contrary, my involvement in the GoW to date is because I want to aid the survival and even eventual growth of Uru. If you think about, if the situation ever got to the point where Cyan is making fair amounts of money off Uru, that would mean that our wildest hopes have come true.

Greendragoon, I agree completely and I'd guess most of us would be only too happy to see our agebuilding efforts support Cyan.
Unfortunately, at present it appears that Cyan would not be the beneficiary of our goodwill, Turner / GameTap would.
Going back to Rand's interview, what he seems to be saying is that he hopes to show GameTap that user-created content could make MO:UL a profitable venture over time, that this could entice GT to re-open some form of MO:UL. He doesn't say that he hopes to
buy rights back from Turner. All indicators show that Cyan doesn't have finances to do that. He does say that Cyan is "trying to get the rights back", probably by showing GT that it could profit by handing control - but not ownership - back to Cyan.
But at present, if the caverns are reopened it'll be GameTap who's benefiting from any profits, at least for the next two years - unless Cyan IS able to buy back ownership completely.
From the article:
Ricardo Sanchez, VP of Content and Creative Director of GameTap. He sent back (by email from
Wendy.Rutherford@turner.com) this reply:
"We have been in discussions with Cyan about the future of Myst Online: Uru Live, and selling the rights back to Cyan is definitely an option.
While there isn't a set dollar amount for this to happen, any agreement would need to be mutually beneficial for both companies."
...and it looks like there's some discussion and conjecture brewing about the possibilities of assisting Cyan in such an effort.

I just had a thought. According to the interview Rand is telling Turner about the User created content, and that the best thing for both Gametap, and Cyan to make a profit off of Uru is to let the community continue the development of Uru. If that is the case, if this is the way they are going, and according to Rand, he doesn't believe fan ages will hurt that at all. Perhaps we should think about having our best and brightest age crafters out there, submit those ages to Cyan as something to show Gametap "look, look what they are doing. This is what we're talking about"

They have, and they seem to like it.

(well, if they didn't surely they wouldn't do all those negociations with GT..)

Grr... I wish Gametap would just give cyan back the rights!! We're never going to go anywhere until that happens! It's always "this is what we want to do... after gametap gives us the rights" Rand's vision sounds awesome, but he can't do anything about it until Gametap gives the rights back!

After reading this why do I have the urge to go to the GameTap forums and start posting detailed instructions on how to add Fan Ages to Uru:ABM.
////Okay download pots from here, the ulm from there, type in this address and download these ages like this.....
////Then just click on the new books you will find in your book case, and if you like them and want them easier to load tell Rickzilla.

Just saying....
