Going back, and re reading the first post, I see that it is slightly worded incorrectly, and you should have put in, "can you pm me with any useful info?", because this forum, when it started actually blurred EULA slightly, only because most of the (dare I say it), hacking, had been done from Uru:Prologue/PotS, which Cyan knew about, but by no means accepted it, which was spelled out once, if I can remember the quote, "even by silence we do not condone this action nor do we accept it, for further queries email legal@cyan.com'

Use of the Client Application and Game Content. You may not use the
Client Application or Game Content other than in connection with your use
of the Service in accordance with this Agreement. Without limiting the

engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Client Application or

http://www.gametap.com/mystonline, and/or related websites to download the
Client Application in accordance with the instructions provided;
(ii) install and use the Client Application on your personal computer
solely for the purpose of accessing and using the Service and the Game
Content; and (iii) access and use the Service and Game Content, and
exchange information and data through the Service, using your personal
computer in the manner described in the Client Application. Except for
the right and license expressly granted in this paragraph, no right or
license is granted by implication, estoppel or otherwise, and TGN and its
licensors reserve all right, title and interest in and to the Service, Client
Application, and Game Content, the websites through which the Service is
provided, all information and data provided through the Service, any
trademarks, service marks and logotypes appearing in the Service,
Client Application or Game Content (including, without limitation, all
characters, graphics, illustrations, images, text, audio/video, ideas, and
means of character interaction), and the network and server infrastructure
(including all related software) utilized to operate or provide any of the
foregoing, including, but not limited to, any changes, modifications,
improvements or corrections to them or derivative works of them, all
related technology, any rights under copyright, patent, trademark, service
mark, or trade dress (whether or not any of these are registered), any
proprietary rights in trade secrets, know-how, designs or databases, and
any right or form of protection similar to any of the foregoing existing
anywhere in the world. Without limiting the foregoing, “Cyan,” “Myst,”
“Uru,” “Myst Online: Uru Live,” “GameTap,” “Expand Your Playground,”
and the relating logos are trademarks of TGN, or its licensors and/or
their affiliates, and any use of such trademarks shall inure to the benefit
of TGN, licensors and/or their affiliates. In addition, you disclaim any
proprietary rights that you may have in any information or data that may
be collected through your use of the Service, the Client Application or the
Game Content; or, in the event such disclaimer is deemed unenforceable,
you hereby grant TGN a license to use information and data in
connection with the Service, including (without limitation) any marketing
and promotions thereof.

User Content. You are responsible for any content, messages, opinions,
ideas, photos, images, videos, profiles or other information that you
create, transmit or display on or through the Service, or that is created,
transmitted, or displayed via your account or sub-accounts (collectively,
“User Content”). By transmitting or displaying User Content on or through
the Service, you grant TGN and its affiliates and licensors an irrevocable,
perpetual, non-exclusive, worldwide right and license to use, reproduce,
publicly perform, publicly display, distribute copies and create derivative
works of the User Content in any media now known or hereafter devised,
and to grant and authorize sublicenses under the foregoing right and
license without any compensation to you. You represent and promise
that you own all copyrights and other intellectual property rights in the
User Content, or otherwise have the right to grant the foregoing right and
license. You agree that TGN may review, edit and delete any User
Content which, in the sole judgment of TGN, violates this Agreement.

Wow, I'm trying to wrap my head around this:

A registered user of this forum, is threatening to some how bring a legal suit against the GoW (private, free club) and this forum (an open, free public forum), because they felt that they were not receiving the help they were entitled to. Said "Help" being:

1) Information on how to (at this point in time) illegally obtain game files from a company who has stated, as recently as yesterday (Click Here For Chogon) that they still consider this activity illegal.

2) Information that may have been passed privatly (IE PM's) to another member, violating that member's confidentiality.

3) Because this organization has declared publicly that it will not condone illegal activity, nor be a partner in it.

Did I get that right?

Wow. I think I need to go back to bed and get up again. I obviously woke up in a strange and different world this morning, where people think they have a right to sue someone or a group because they DON'T want to break the law........

Fezz, No one has a problem with you requesting information on how to obtain MOUL ages. Those that are able to provide them, if they see your request, will PM you, as they did. However, the distribution of MOUL ages is still not allowed here on this board (because until Cyan releases this content, through open source, it is still their IP, and such their are laws regarding it) You can request it, but people won't post the torrents in the threads. Instead those who are willing to share will PM you when they see your post. By not posting them directly in a thread, it puts the legal issue of the distribution on you, and the user sharing those files with you. Not the people who host this board.

That being said, most of the controversy was caused by a misunderstanding between Bodon, and those that posted in response to him. I believe Bodon, while having a firm grasp on the English language, it is not his primary language. Hence he may have mistook someone's saying "no we can't help you on this forum" as "no go away, we won't help you at all" when quite the opposite. In this regard the help cannot, and should not be made on the forum itself, but rather through private messages.

I believe this whole thing was simply a misunderstanding between Bodon, and others, because Bodon did not understand that we weren't saying "no we can't help you at all" but instead were saying "we can't help you in public, but leave your request here and someone may PM you"

It really was IMO, a simple misunderstanding based upon people of different languages misinterpreting each other.

Go back to sleep Andy. You're fine, no one is threatening to sue anyone, you yourself misread the conversation. The world is still in balance. It's still the way it always has been, on the brink, with good fighting evil all the way, and people only being able to sue someone over spilling hot coffee on themselves.
