Aye, the file editing required isn't that nasty, I find, but... eh.

This answers a question I already had in mind, because I wrote an Age (still writing it, that is) and I've read a comment from Andy somewhere that GeoStates should not be zero, otherwise an Age could crash the client on old graphics cards. So I postponed that to remember later, before release, because I got no idea what good default values might be.
Now you're telling there is already a plugin solution? Great!
Tested it yesterday, and found no problems as well. To be honest, I don't even realise any visual difference - maybe because I don't know where to look at. The waveset just looks okay, as it looked okay before.
D'Lanor wrote:I guess it could be committed to the trunk since no one who tested it before found any problems. However, I still need to document how to revert to the old behavior for people who want to keep that, since this does change the movement of wavesets slightly.
I would vote for "yes, commit to the trunk", because many people (like me) aren't even aware of possible client-crashes when using wavesets the first time.

Thanks for sharing denost! I just visited 'Somewhere' and you have made a really good age! As for now it's a bit laggy for me, and I usually don't have problem with that. Lag can be caused by too many looping animations, suggestion is to make them to start with a button of sorts. But they are cool!

Especially the little box. The moving sliders in the link-in-house is very well done, same goes for the buildings. Good texturing, some little flickering on the metalbeams only. Very nice with all the different sounds too, really adds to the 'athmosphere'.
When arriving the surrounding lighting is yellowish, also when walking outside, and then down on the ground one can see that it is ice and snow there, that made me wonder?
I'm looking forward to visit again, and maybe get some clues to what the machinery does. One can hear the sounds...

Maybe you should have a look at this (WIC) wiki page:
http://www.guildofwriters.com/wiki/Perf ... timizationKeep in mind that those playing your age will most likely not change the PC to do so, so if you need to do that, something is wrong, and this is not fixed by changing computers.

A very interesting (and huge) age! I enjoyed very much exploring the vast snow landscape. There are many dicoverings to make. The sounds and weather effects create an atmospheric ambience. The transportation system is very cool! It works fine, only now and then my avatar was left behind and the cabin travelled without it.

The flapping flags are very nice animated.
I don't have any lag.
I think I understood the most important parts of the message Gary left for the explorers (there are some poor remains of the French I learned in school way back

), but I think it would be a good idea to have the text also in English. By the way, the animated message board is amazing.
I don't know if I have discovered everything, at least one place I couldn't reach yet.

The top of the rock pillar in the middle of the very deep cave. I pressed a button I found on my way down, but I think I'm still missing something.
Great job, denost2! I'm looking forward to explore your second age.

I think also you used flymode.
As you can see in my screenshot I'm able to read the board without using flymode.

And on my screen it's much better to read than in the picture.
I think using flymode spoils a lot of the fun you can have when exploring a new age. I try to avoid this.
