(Gmz comes back after what? a year? two years? just to say that a not-very-long post was too long? Oo Back to old times :P)
Anyway, this is one of the things I did not like about Uru: purposefully confusing truth and falsity. People would tell true stories in the cavern often, and of course there were people who would lie, but also people "in-cavern" pretending. And all this confuses some people and can result in bad feelings. Some people thought someone had actually died during the Wheely thing. Even if people can point out which things are obviously pretend and which are not, when they think about it, often they will not think about it and just have something in the back of their mind. Please don't believe a prophet invented by a corporation for a game.

I see what you're saying there, and I agree completely. The post was meant to be written about the Watcher (IC) even though it also had OOC references. Of course I don't believe in a prophet invented by a game company, but what Cyan wrote as the watcher's prophesies rings true. Just because the Watcher is not real doesn't mean that the words he supposedly wrote are not wise, and good advice.

The only way I could see anyone believing that is in terms of
Real Life Writes The Plot. (Warning: TVTropes link!) And in that sense, it's possible... though I don't think they'd have trouble finding a replacement puppeteer (the best term I can think of) for a character like her anyway.
Personally, though, I like the IC/OOC confusion. If I actually get confused to the point I'm worried about someone, I'll ask, but careful application of doublethink, 'believing' that it's real, for a while, is a big part of the fun for me. It's called suspension of disbelief, and Uru just encourages you to take it a little further than normal, it's by no means unique.

Ahh, but if you read it as kaelis... did; then it may well be the single, most profound statement gmz has ever made.

I never heard of anything like that... you can't do any story-telling if people take it that serious. I mean, people could also believe that things like linking could actually work, or that someone actually killed thousands of people in the cavern many of us enjoy so much. You have to assume your audience can separate story and real life.

Don't read to much into what GMZ said. i've heard he's dumb as a doorknob.

That's pretty insulting for doorknobs.
