Ametist is a member too. So far I haven't met much Writers in game.

I'll be a Writer... relatively soon. I'm waiting for spare cycles, if you will.
At any rate, I got the T-shirt from Kirel. There's no going back now.

As I write this I am in our pub, all alone.

The problem with a hood (even though it's good as something temporary) is that you need to give up your 'hood community for your guild. I think of guild sort of like work and people of the guild like colleagues, that is the niche the guild fits for me. 'Hood neighbors are like... well... neighbors. Having a GoW 'hood's kind of like sleeping at work.
This poses a problem because I want to be able to choose a hood--I'm thinking about joining the UO hood which I was joined to before the fall... fall #3 OoC that is (or whatever number it's gone up to)--and not be short-changing my guild ties.
I really like Hoikas's idea of making the GoW pub more fun. Heek tables and conference rooms are a must and a prison for bad people

I can understand your position Lontahv, but at least one (<--) of us wasn't around before the fall. What caught my interest again with URU was the ability to create my own ages and someday see them in-game. While I love URU and the puzzles, I've enjoyed the interaction with other Guild members - and I've seen very few active members in the pub. It might be a good thing to have a more pronounced presence in-game. I've met several people who lurk the forums and have an interest in writing, but are either waiting for the plug-in or are still intimidated by Blender, Gimp, Python etc...
If more new members were able to interact with older members of the Guild, perhaps more would step up and contribute. I for one, in my short time here have learned that it takes much more than just modelling, texturing or scripting. A lot of the great works that have been created here have been collaborative efforts (not all and I mean no offense to those who have done it all themselves). Lot's of folks out there have great ideas but aren't great at the technical stuff.
Granted, the forum is GREAT. Really, it's awesome, but interacting with others in-game helps build friendships and cement bonds between age writers. A lot of you folks who have been around here for years all know each other. The rest of us need a common meeting place.
Yes, I know about the Pub, but when you're waiting around by yourself there, it get's boring pretty quick. Having a ball to kick around, or a nice view to look at helps a lot.

Chacal wrote:Yes of course, the pub should in fact be linked to the neighborhood, and we should expand it. However the fact remains that it is a pretty bland place, whereas the hood is interesting, has varied areas, etc. In fact the pub should be a pub, a meeting and socializing place, and the hood should be expanded as a living place (with perhaps homes for members)....

Tidy up the classroom is what I would like to do! Or, if the mess in there reminds everyone of their time in school , make another classroom behind it

Success!
After installing Windows 7 (which performs WAY better than Vista), I simply copied my whole Uru structure (ABM, POTS, Alcugs, MOUL, MOUL:Again, etc) from my old disk and everything works fine. RAID 0 (striping) is awesome. It instantly doubles the performance of your disk, for the price of a second disk. Of course the risk is also doubled, so you gotta make backups. Ages now load almost twice faster in POTS.

You're quite right. This is a good analogy.
During MOUL I was in the UO hood, because I've been a (mostly lurking) member of the UO forum for years (I remember the Gehn incident...).
The few forums for age writers were unwelcoming, if not downright repellent with way too much drama (I remember the StarFyre incident...).
But since the GoW forum started I drifted away from UO and I haven't visited for months. The people I want to be with are here, so for me a GoW makes sense.
Unless diafero starts a AC hood, in which case it will be hard to choose.

You were around back then? Heh, you learn something new everyday.

Oh, yeah that. Heh, that one shook things up pretty well. I still don't really understand what the fuzz was all about really. Way too much drama to be sure!
Still, I don't remember us being unwelcoming. Though perhaps there was little help for newbies. The tools weren't as user friendly as they are now, and we all barely understood them ourselves

Anyone wanting to explain these old stories to someone who joined too late to see them?
