That looks splendid! Very nice work. I hope I can eventually write something half as good as that looks. Very nice!
Tweek wrote:Hey MusicallyInspired, I'd love to use this piece if you wouldn't mind? It fits nicely with a new area of Kehrahn that I am working on.
Yes, you can. :) If you need it in another format like OGG or FLAC let me know. I don't know what format Uru uses, but I very much dislike the MP3 format and wouldn't want you using it if it could be used in a higher quality format.

I believe it uses a OGG file for sound

Karkadann wrote:Wow that truly beautifully, would you consider the "Little Age" for an addition for a MOULa Shard?

Also are you self taught or do you have some professional experience in 3d Graphics?

Well , i am mainly building because i like to build, what happens with it after it is finished is completely to others.

Don't expect this to be finished very soon. From my experience i can tell you that beginning a new project is fun and goes quick with daily progress.
But later on much have to be done before its " safe " to play. Occluders, visregions, coding, animation etc.
That will consume much more time.

I started this thread with a different approche because most builders build behind "closed doors" .
Then it gives an impression that there is lost of interest by the GOW
" Nothing happens overthere, only a few coders but hardly modelers", they all run away!
That is not a good sign, and in my case not true.
What i hope is, that showing the building of an age in "real time" will show where and when help is needed.
I am sure that help will come when i am stuck with this age.

It won't come when i keep everything to myself, because nobody is aware of it and nobody understands what exactly is needed.

I am convinced that developing ages in an open source environment will only work if you are open yourself and willing to share your sources.
Only then people will jump into the project because they think" Hey i can solve that"
Most of us are not used to this, because we all had a bad example in Cyan.
Something more closed then Cyan does not excist!

This Forum must be Vivid! and bring people together in agecreating.

About your last question Karkadann.
I started learning Blender half a year after i joined this Forum, and learned everything from scratch.
Wherever i worked had nothing to do with graphics, nor programming or games at all.
Never did this before, i started after my retirement from work, because it seemed a nice hobby.

The red wall now contains Ambient occlution.(only the red wall not the arch)
You can hardly notice it but you can see a diffuse dark shadow going down from the arches and behind the pillars.
The hard shadows (the lightmap) comes in later.
It does not make sense to do them now, because not all the objects are in it yet and i have not chosen the lightdirection.

That was it for this weekend. More important (social) things are on my schedule now. I continue monday.

I appreciate your point of view on the matter of sharing your work as you work on it. And the progress is fascinating (and encouraging/inspiring) indeed! I know myself, being a newcomer, was a little sad at the fact that not much seemed to be going on here. However, your project gives me hope! The ambient occlusion shadowing already looks loads better. Can't wait to see the final scene lighted! Though, I realize that will be a while.

Today I meanly changed the textures from nearly everything.

I think its lots better, i hope you folks also like it.

I reased the ceiling a bit so nowit rests on the arches.
The wall behind the arches also raised a bit.
The main pilars are changed in shape on the basement.

Tomorrow more when i have time, because i got some new ideas.

Not much new to see today.

Some little details on the bottom of the pool are improved, difficult to see unless you are in the pool.

I replaced the placeholder wall behind, but it is not textured yet.

And i made flares (sprites) around the lamps.
That was it.

I am doubting about the brickfloor, i am afraid i have to find something that fits in better then this.
