Ack! I'm sorry for not replying--my new job has been sucking up my free time like a vacuum cleaner! Well, with any luck I'll have time to read and respond to this tomorrow, and get the next lesson posted.

Ah - our own doctor Mengele is building her army - this looks promising. *another Esher moment*

Army? I don't know what you're talking about... Image

Humma... Just to make sure: did you make sure to save it in a format that supports an added alpha channel, such as png or targa? If the checkerboard pattern shows through in the texture buttons preview (that "alpha" button has no effect anywhere other than on that preview picture, as far as I know, btw), you should be fine.

I saved it as a png as I usually do, "jpeg" sounds a bit tacky somehow... :? Maybe I should read up on how to get it into CC so that I really can make sure it looks alright. :D

Yeh, "Joint pictures expert group", one does wonder what sort of visions experts get while sharing a spliff.. ;P

...maybe could we call our own Calthrope individual something like a "jseg" member...

You should indeed! :)

Ok, just read the whole "My first age" thing in about ten minutes. *overwhelmed* One thing at a time I s'pose, Jennifer no hurry on that next lesson.. :P

Edit: And after the last graphics driver update all those "orchid boxes" and stuff I saw in Blender are gone and everything works flawless, yay!
Edit 2: Second attempt at hedgehog. It looks as if its mother mated with a ping pong ball. Planning on expanding the "ball" part and see if I can make it look a bit better that way. :)

Try to begin with simply flattening the bottom half of the sphere: just "box-select" all the lower vertices and scale them down, pressing first "S" to scale and then "Z" to limit scaling to the up-down axis. Then move them all up to their final position.

Then again, maybe I'll spend the next 14 hours at work...

Jennifer, thank you for a wonderful class, I am by lesson 7 now, never used Blender before (only Cinema and Poser, years ago at school), but I really feel like moving forward! Really thank you, you have a great way of teaching, this is exactly what I was looking for, hats off to Jennifer! :D

ametist, it's awesome that you're doing your own animation. I started the Gus the Gingerbread man tutorial on that some time ago, but I'm still working on his torso and haven't gotten to the fun stuff yet. :) I did learn how to use Blender's game engine to move objects around on command and how make them kickable in Blender's built-in game engine, but that's not really the same. :geek:

Corvus, you actually did a very good job modeling the pillar. You'll get the textures figured out in awhile too, and I want to see another picture of your pillar then! 8-)

Army? I don't know what you're talking about...

lol, riiiiight...

Edit 2: Second attempt at hedgehog. It looks as if its mother mated with a ping pong ball. Planning on expanding the "ball" part and see if I can make it look a bit better that way.

hehe, it does, but it's cute that way. Still, you should try out the different types of PEF and see if you can't get some different effects.

 I wish! But I'm glad that you're staying in practice between lessons. :)

Did you have any luck with Yorik's tutorial, pappou? There was some good stuff in there but it looked like it was meant for an older version of Blender.

Well, I'll have time after work today to do the next lesson unless something comes up, so here's hoping! /me crosses fingers

Makavelina, I'm glad to hear the lessons are going well for you. If you have any problems, just ask and I'm sure Jojon will be happy to help you. :P :P Hehe, actually I'm supposed to be helping y'all out, but I haven't done that much lately...
