I have two questions about this.

1: Do I need an FCAL for any shell that I build?

2: Suppose that I know which shell I would like to use, but I don't have a clear idea of what I would put into that shell. Is it better that I don't request a reservation until I do know what to put in the shell, just in case someone else wants to use it?

I wouldn't bother people with this normally, but I sent off an FCAL request for my first Age just the other day, and I need something to do while I wait for a response.

Hi. Finally taking the plunge and starting work on a real age. I'd like to reserve shell 229, if there aren't any problems.

EDIT: The wiki's acting up again. Could sombody update for me?

D'nial: Here's the answers:

1) No - we already received a blanket FCAL for the entire age.

2) If we required everyone to have an idea before asking for a shell, then there would be far fewer shells taken. So by all means, pick a shell!

P.S.: I really did choose that shell for reasons beside an obsession with Halo. It's a nice location.

Would you mind setting me up with any shell that is still open. The map vs. the wiki shows seems to show that there are no open spots left, but then again...I can't read maps to save my life.

In any case, I'll build to whatever style is around me. Thanks, can't wait to be part of the community.

The map is woefully out of date, so the best source of information on shell availability is the Wiki. To quickly see the list of empty (i.e. available) shells, click on the box next to the word "Status" in that last column. This will sort the items according to their status.

I decided to give you the last shell in the white district: 116. Check your PMs.
