Hello there, I'm Nathan2055. I've been interested in MYST and URU for several years now, and was very excited to see MOULa come out a year ago. By pure luck I stumbled across the Deep Island Shard and Fan Ages and began my Guild of Writers career. I now have one Age project and two Ahra Pahts shells (see signature) and helping out wherever I can. My dream is to see URU open source with all the necessary patches and lots of new content. I haven't really learned Blender or any code but I consider myself an excellent short story writer. My KI numbers are all in my signature and I check my PMs a lot. See you in URU!

Hello everyone! My online name is Whystler.

My Myst experience:

I had never played anything Myst related until just the other day. I had heard of it. I remember looking over the shoulder of a roomate in the early 90's as he played Myst on his Mac. It was beautiful. At the time, I did not have a computer, so I had other things to keep me busy, not the least of which was my youth lol. I also remember the reviews of the game which were quite favourable.

What I do:

I am a 3d artist with skills in modelling via 3D Studio Max (among other tools) for Virtual Realities and 3D printing, and texture creation via primarily Corel Photopaint. I am also a sculptor in clay, and the coordinator of a yearly non profit event called Enchanted Ground's Faery Fest. This event is somewhat like what you might know a renaissance faire to be, but focussed solely on promoting and celebrating fantasy in the arts. We have faeries and goblins and dragons and mermaids and jousting and artists and larpers and kids and puppets and beer and well I will stop now because I am always in promotion-mode for it :).

I am very much about making fantasy real - and have done this mostly through making content for virtual worlds starting with MUDS, MUSES, and MUSHES, then Activeworlds in the late 90's, continuing to Adobe's Atmosphere and from there SecondLife, Blink3D, IMVU, There, Twinity, Utherverse - as well as some lesser known up and comers such as NuVera Online and FriendsHangout both of which use the Unity Game platform. I make a living this way.

Land of Whyst

It's more than likely that you haven't heard of the Land of Whyst. It's a brand that I promote mostly in IMVU for my virtual products but it started back in my Activeworlds days as a convenient name to call my world by a shortening of my nickname - which comes from the fact that I play a lot of different kinds of flute and whistled incessantly when I was very young. If I'm here long enough, you'll hear me mention it with regards to what I want to create here. I apologize, in a way, that it sounds suspiciously close the word Myst. But so be it :)

Whyst is a land that is meant to inspire nobility of spirit and love of fantasy. It's place for everyone who visits to treat each other with the respect deserving of storybook gentry. With that in mind, it's not a place of "power over" but "power with". It's a place of wit, creativity, sensitivity, even sensuality and healing. The look of Whyst tends towards the classically civilized, the naturally wild, and where these two things meet in the art of the Garden. Sometimes it's hard to know if you are indoors or outdoors in rooms/worlds built within the theme. In short, I think it's a good fit as an Age if I am able to learn enough here to make one.

Thanks for looking :) I feel like maybe I did a little overkill with the screenshots. I just wanted you to see what I'm aiming for.

I look forward to learning about each of you,

Welcome!
If I understand correctly, you have created a multi-platform "Age" that exists or existed in several on-line worlds.
This is an intriguing concept. I hope you can add it to Uru.

Some Writers here have used a similar (I think) concept, for example the Neolbah project.
Also, before Cyan's MOUL server came online, parts of Uru were created on worlds like Second Life.

Hi, my name's Velocifero. I'm from Florida, USA.

I've played the original Myst when it came out forever ago. A few years ago, I got Myst III: Exile for Ps2 and loved the heck out of it. I rediscovered it while researching D'ni architecture for a project I was working on. I was browsing around and stumbled on MOUL. I've played it for about a week now, just wandering around, getting lost, whatnot. I've discovered it to be, like other Myst games, empty and abandoned-looking. I would love to see if MOUL still has a community in a time when everyone seems to only play WoW. If you guys are out there, my KI number is 13948109.

Although I hardly know how to use 3d software and I only know BASIC and html coding, I have designed many different things and I tend to be very imaginative.

Hey everyone.

My name is Rhee. I picked up a t-shirt, and they tell me that is enough to consider myself a member of the Guild of Writer's. LOL

I first experienced Myst as a young teenager, and have been delighted repeatedly with the following titles as the years passed. I muddled my way through Uru:ABM on my own, but at the time i played it, Uru LIve (the original version) had already been cancelled for the first time. (at least, I think that was the situation, correct me if i'm wrong haha) However, Until Uru showed up soon after this and I had a fun time hanging out in D'mala shard with lots of new friends and fellow Myst enthusiasts. I don't know if there's anyone that will recognize me, but there's a few faces I recognize here from that era... Whilyam for instance... Remember running for DRC liasons? Weren't THOSE the days... Then Gametap happened and it was over for me then, because I only had a dial-up connection at the time.

Uru moved to backburner of my life until a few weeks ago someone on a video-game-music-related forum mentioned that MOUL existed and was functioning, so I have returned!!! and I am having a blast, making new friends in the cavern, exploring ages I previously had not (all the expansion content is new for me!!! yay), and being otherwise obsessed in general HAH.

Anyway, I really want to help create. I suppose one might call me a "renaissance girl" in the context of my multiple enthusiasms. I am singer, musician and composer (just for my own enjoyment mostly), an aspiring author (two novels written so far, working up the nerve to submit them haha), and a reasonably proficient (in my opinion, and others) artist. However, I don't know the first thing about programming. I am willing to learn that part, certainly, but that will take some time.

I would be thrilled to work on age creation immediately, in a idea-supply sense, whether it be storyline, artwork, music, puzzles, whatever... If someone else can do the programming to bring it to life haha!! And once I know more of the programming stuff, I will certainly get involved in that stuff too, if I'm needed!

Looking forward to working with each and every one of you,
Rhee

Greetings and Salutations fellow cave dwellers.

Sir Puma here. I've been an Myst fan since it first came out so many years ago. I've played through all the games more than twice and was even in Until Uru (I even still have my Kagi Key email. I've been slinking around D'ni in MOULa for a few years and had been away for the past year. Upon my returning to the world of Uru I discovered to my dismay that my Uru Obsession stomping ground had been shut down and there wasn't any real updates to the ages. But I was surprise to learn while cruising through the mystonline forums that there were other cavern shards. So I'm here to do a little spelunking and explore here, only I'm not sure exactly how to connect. (I'm sure there's some instructions somewhere around here.)

Anyway since I had to reinstall the MOULa client I'm running the 1.905 version and will just have to wait till things get updated around here. So until I can get down there with you, Shorah.

Marcus aka Sir Puma

PS:
Perhaps I should expound on this. I'm an explorer. While I have worked in IT maintaining servers for Microsoft in the past, I'm by no means a programmer and lack the knowledge and skill (or even the lingo) to create content. I would love to explore the content people are putting out, but am unsure of how exactly to do that.

I'm currently reading through the Wiki hoping to figure some stuff out but there doesn't seem to be a compendium of FAQ that might help a non-ubergeek. :geek: For instance. For the offline content the Wiki states as a required base Uru: Complete Chronicles. Well, what if I only have Uru: Ages beyond Myst and the TPOTS/TD expansion pack, does that qualify? Or is there something different about CC that means I have to acquire it? I have many more questions but will read around the site to get them answered while I await the shard to be updated to the 905 version.

For all necessary distinctions, Complete Chronicles is equivalent to Uru:ABM+ToD'ni+TPotS. Uru:CC is just shorter to say (and type). ;) You should be able to use your copy for playing the offline content available here and elsewhere.
