Well, here's an unfinished image anyway. Looks like I'll probably be too busy to complete this within the next few days, so I figured I'd just post what I had done. It'll give you an rough idea of where I was going. And I also think that if we go with the green base jungle (which I was just starting at right) then we should change the color of the sky to teal or something. Green on green is just too green, you know?

That's some nice work there! The left side is pretty cool, though the right is starting to look better, with interspersing blue and red plants, otherwise it's a beautiful view!

That's really beautiful Jennifer!
Well composed. I agree with Monkeyboy completely. The right side is developing perfectly (from my mind's eye version) I like that the right side jungle has more yellow-greens and blue-greens and blues with just a scattering of reds or oranges. I also think that maroon would be a nice alternative to a bright red in that envrionment. I think you may have hit upon the right formula for our flora. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Bet you could use a hand massage ;)

Maybe we should just steal these guys' red/green formula:

The green sky technique is starting to gel nicely. What did you use, three or four different pencils?
I know; these 'untextured' textures (in the art sense, not Blender sense) are really difficult to bring off. Takes superb control and patience.

Left page holds up best, although there is some sleepiness between the volcanoes – where hachures are starting to emerge; right page shows the weak wrist problem, as some puffy little green clouds are trying to break through.

Tis a lovely technique, if demanding. I think it is worth it. Are you learning how to stop when you are too tired to keep the game up? A few more of these and you will look like a pro (maybe a pro wearing wrist braces, but a pro, nevertheless).

You mentioned the heavy rubbing required for certain leaves/flowers. Architectural students have a technique of really scrubbing the wax pencil into the paper – i mean really scrubbing it in; then they put wax paper over the image and iron it. At the right temperature this melds (or melts) the strokes into a single solid and very opaque image. Only good for the occasional beauty spot, unless you have really strong wrists. But it makes a startling display.

Yeah, pretty much--A blue green, a normal green, a teal, and a light green I think...

Well, those aren't actually volcanoes, although they could be. :D What you are looking at for mountains is the equivalent of a row of dominoes knocked over facing towards the left side of the picture--a bunch of layers that are leaned over on top of each other. The stream has cut through these layers as they were created, creating the valley and the slopes you see. But what are hachures? And I notice those little green clouds now that you've pointed them out--and I shall deal with them, be sure of that! :ugeek:

Are you learning how to stop when you are too tired to keep the game up?

Eh, it usually takes a few hours before my wrist begins to give out, and I usually don't draw that long anyway--so, no worries. :)

Hmm, thanks for the tip. I'll have to try this out sometime. :)

I know I'm late to this conversation, but thought I'd pop my nose in, anyway ... I kinda like the purples
