Another requirement is to check age integrity so that people know when they have to update, and if everything got downloaded correctly.

ULM already does the download part. In the ULM section of this board, there is a thread about a project for a new version. Maybe that would be a good place to start, reusing instead of starting from scratch.

Any possibility of marker games being written to and read from external .txt files?

Right now it seems that it just gets loaded to and from the vault

Is there no way to get the internal patcher running in offline mode? The dataserver method is still the best. Not the way MOUL had it implemented with everything downloading at startup, but the way UU did it by default: dowload an age as you link to it. That way you only get the fan ages you want.

With version 2.5 of the Offline KI, MOUL and Myst V ages are finally integrated: It contains patches to the city and the hood by GPNMilano as well as a Cleft patch by Dustin. The necessary Python and SDL files for MOUL and Myst V are also contained, so all you need to get these ages running is an installation of Myst V and MOUL, this Offline KI (containing all the patches which can not be done automatically) and the latest Drizzle (version 10) which does everything which can be automatically. See the "Features" section of the Offline KI page for a more detailed list of features, while "Installations" also contains the instructions for downloading and using Drizzle.
You can find all that at http://diafero.bplaced.net/
I tried to put as less as possible into the download, but there is some stuff which simply can not be brought to the user without making it available for download, like the MOUL SDL and Python files. If anyone can see a better solution of providing MOUL for the offline game, please let me know.

I just tried it, and got loads of really weird effects, like all of Relto had textures that kept changing, as well as the KI and nexus, I think it may be Drizzle10

Strange... perhaps it is a conflict with other patches you installed earlier? It worked great on my machine an on some others, too. Looks like some prp files got corrupted... and the Relto prps are not even touched by the Offline KI or Drizzle. You could try re-downloading the two files - as soon as I'm back home I can post checksums so that you can compare if they are correct.

EDIT: I just had to re-uplaod the data file, I forgot the new Cleft age file

I have had problems with the latest drivers from nVidia, their support team managed to help me stabilize my system, and it seems that the game is behaving.

I can't try the whole latest release right now but I want to say, having had a peek at the adapted Python files for Myst V, that these are a good solution for making Myst V Ages much more useable in Uru. It used to be necessary to use fly-mode for getting anywhere in the Ages, now lots of places can be walked into.

The modifications done to the code are clean and elegant, and do much towards a better understanding of the differences between Myst V code and Uru code. Special attention was given for making the Ages compatible for a multi-player environment. Kudos to diafero, Dustin and GPNMilano (and others?) for this release.

Couple of really stupid questions

1. When I was in the cleft and jumped the fence, I did not see anything inside the volcano except for blackness

2. How do you get the MOUL Relto. When I started I went to the TPOTS Relto. I did see in the cleft the 2 relto pages.

Thanks

I have everything installed. MOUL. Myst V (drizzle 10) and offline KI (the newest version). I managed to get everything converted.
