@ robert - I really hope so. It would be twice as painfull to texture EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!

@ everyone else - Schools starting up again soon and will be taking up most of my time. I'll try to get some work in when I can, but for now expect some downtime with Core.

I've been working on some underground lab. It was once used by Delfer to conduct his crystal experiments in secrecy.

It's not much yet, but I plan to add a prototype satylyte somewhere, various notes, and some machines used in Delfer's reseach.

I don't blame him for doing this in secret - there are some folks here who shun such heretical work... ;)

Looking good, BTW!

What?! Crystals don't emit light unless for * insert science talk *.

And I can understand how random glowey clumps of crystal just don't make scense.

But I dont use random glowey clumps! I use generators and the power of Isayso logic!

Can't have a secret fanatical lab if the rock above it isn't supported.

Hey guess what! I've returned!

This image here is of a prototype satylyte created by Delfer when he first started his experiments.

In my eyes I think I could of improved on the satylite, but it was a prototype after all! Even for me!

And obviously this image is a bit outdated. I recently got the latest version of Blender and find it to work wonders!

Ok, after a long break of working with this project I have yet again returned! Right now I've begun to revamp and texture the islands that have already been created.

Here's an image of the very first island that is encountered.

As you can see I've also added a few things. The link-in structure is no longer a closed off building but more of a gazebo. I've also added a few marble ruins that hang out of the sides of the island.

I like what I've done so far, but I would like to ask if anyone could tell me how to make these textures less blocky and blend into each other ( if possible ).

Griffin,

There are different ways to make your textures/blends look better. As far as the blends go, you can use Stencils or Vertex paint. The Vertex paint option will require you to have meshes that are made deliberately. I'd recommend having another look at the wiki under Stencils and Vertex paint.

As far as the textures themselves are concerned... it's a gray area. Obviously, you'll want to use good quality textures to start with. You can find many that are pre-made and free. Just use your favorite search engine, and look for Public Domain textures. Oftentimes, they'll have to worked on with GIMP (or whatever you use) to make them look really good.

For your islands, I'd probably go the Vertex paint route. The island would have to be remodelled, but IMO - it would be your best bet. Of course, you could also use a custom stencil - but that would be up to you. :)

Hope this helps.

Thanks Zuri. I think I'll try out the vertex painting route. It kinda stinks that I'll have to remodel the island, but I did make some good changes when I first tried texturing it. Eventually I'll get the hang of it!
