As I mentioned in the thread which then got split off. Wordpress has a Multi-user mechanism called WordPress MU. Allows for a single installation of Wordpress with multiple blogs for users.

Unfortunately, Wordpress MU requires a separate user database. Last time I looked at it, it would be difficult to unify the wordpress and phpBB authentication. It may have changed since then though.

I believe there is a mod you can get that ties phpBB db's with the wordpress one, I did some research on it for DJC and DZS.

Cool, I guess it's worth re-investigating then.

In an ideal world, we could tie it in with MOULa accounts, and use a single user database across multiple forums for all the Guilds... :P

In a practical world, it would be nice if we could do some fancy stuff with Google's OpenID and bind to existing accounts.

And them Cyan shuts down MOULa again and we can't even complain because we can't log into anything anymore.

Do you trust Google with your IDs? After what happened in China? :D

I generally agree, except for the age list thing - as already discussed, a good solution would be to use Alcugs' data in the context of this IC site. That would avoid duplication of work and effort, without breaking the IC feeling. Since all age pages have a common structure (even more so if you fetch their wiki source code - they all use the same template), some simple regular expressions should do the trick.

Forgive me for sounding blunt, but after examining said list at alcugs I have a number of issues with using that list:
  • It lists all the ages ever released. Including some that look pretty bad, or were never meant for real exploration (talking about my own ages here btw) .
That is fine for a list that lists all ages available, but on an IC site, it's not a good idea to blindly include all ages.
For now, I strongly believe only active and recent Ages should be on display there.
  • Most of the ages have some quick snapshots, and pretty sparse information. Som pictures are in my humble opinion pretty bad.
I believe we want to add more and different pictures and information about Ages in an IC site.
Again, I'd like to emphasise that in my opinion any list of Ages on the IC site would be a subset of the available ages. And it would have specific IC information and pictires, aimed at public relations. Such a list would be fundamentally different fomr the one at alcugs, so dynamic linking and copying would be a pain.

At the moment I don't have the time to inish up my post or complete the list above, as I'm due in class in a few minutes.

I agree with Trylon here. The Alcugs list doesn't make much sense from an IC perspective.
