My first impression was that they were supposed to be times as well. I still think that it may have been the original intention, and that it changed during the production of Myst, like the paintings->books change.

Yes, exactly. I like the books idea, and the whole idea of writing in the books being what creates the link. But it's an interesting thought to think that instead it is what you paint that makes the link. Perhaps you paint a scene, and that is the world you link to. I guess calling it "The Art" makes a lot more sense then :D

I don't remember where the information came from, possibly an old Lyst post by RAWA or something at one of the Spokane Mysteria, but I've definitely heard it before.
