Quick question, why do you feel Cyan is somehow better than the other random people you take textures from via Google Image Search? After all, if your google image searches turned up lots of awfully watermarked pictures like these, where would Breldur be right now?

You have just reminded me why I stopped creating things for this "community".
when it comes to Age creation ... "DOH" seems to be my middle name...

There are many of us who are sorry for this, Boblishman. Your creations were muchly appreciated.

Jonnee has spent a good part of three years building Breldur, and I for one am looking forward to seeing it all come together.

*cough* Does he yell on me??

For Breldur I'm only using textures that are "free to use", without any copyrights. Or I create alot of textures by my own. If I want to use existing digital art I also write emails to their artists and I'm asking for permission to use their work.

I respect the intellectual property right of other artists and companies like Cyan. I don't want to get in trouble with them. That's also why I asked here in my topic if we are allowed to use Cyan's textures.
I don't know if it is allowed to post their textures here on the forum. That's why I watermarked them to avoid that the forum's owner gets trouble.

Jonnee--I believe I could do paintings in Photoshop that are about that quality, and that style. Can we get some details?

Update:

Oh - my - god!!!

I got a new graphics card and a new TFT monitor a few days ago.
I was running URU and entering Breldur. Everything looks completely brighter now than I have written it. This is not the age anymore that I have done!! :o
Damn. The work never stops. I think that I have to edit each single texture in my paint program an give it some more darkness now. *grrrrr*

Jonnee, I happen to have the same problem with my screen. When I got a new LCD I found everything to be very bright in places. However, my screen has a very high contrast screen. Anyway, maybe you could ask a couple of people how the color/brightness levels are for them, and maybe change Uru's gamma around a bit before changing all the textures. It's possible that you, like me, have a screen that does not show things the way they appear to most of the community.
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).

If you previously had a CRT monitor maybe you should check your gamma slider first? People with old CRT monitors often drag Uru's gamma slider to the far right. I found that when I switched to a TFT monitor everything suddenly was far too bright and I had to drag that slider left of the middle.

And speaking of sliders, you can easily darken materials in Blender with the amb slider under shaders. There is no need to adapt all of your textures.

Why does this sound like a scene from Myst IV Revelation?

By the way, "move the slider a little to the left"

Emmm... *cough*
My gamma slider has been on the very left side before I got the new monitor. That means that the game was displayed very dark.
Now, with the new TFT, it's very bright either if the slider is still on "the dark side". ;)

Conclusion:
I really have to darken the textures.
It would not make sense to darken the used materials, because I have used a huge amount of different materials which are affected by only 50 or some more identic textures/pictures.
I will test it by doing a backup of my previous textures folder. 8-)
