And thanks to all the judges that could make it today.

Aloys: check your PM; I forwarded you the summary.

Ahhh, you bet me too it

Thanks much to Dot, for heading the meeting

Thanks much to Eric and Chogon to take time out of their busy schedule to get your feedback.

Yep, we and the GoMa both need an IRC room to throw about ideas, and help others whilst someone else is online.

There is also going to be some small changes to the wiki too shortly, though nothing that concerns the entrants.

I'm sorry I couldn't attend the meeting as something unforeseeable came inbetween. Thank you for the summary.

A question for everyone involved: when the time comes for contestants to submit their completed shells to Aloys, would it be alright if they CC'ed me on their submissions? The reason I'm suggesting this is to alleviate the pressure on Aloys to have v1.0 completed by the 21st; he can incorporate the shells when it's the right time for him. When I receive the new shells, I'll simply incorporate them into the 08Dx version I made for the "initial" RAD2 version, rapidly turning it around for the judges to examine.

Does anyone have any objections to this?

Short notice:
I'm away for a week until around the 18th/20th - if anything important comes up, pm me and I'll read it when I get back.

(Yeah, like I'm that important anyway :D )

I think the GoW and the GoMa should look into PHP IRC clients for their sites. We can use the same one but just change the theme. I'm sure someone here could even write our own.

How do you like the idea of writing our own protocol? 8-)

Err, forgive my day-dreaming.

*puts on his serious-hat*

We at the GoW and GoMa want your chat experience to be as safe and fun and compatible as possible.

Thank you.

EDIT: I have a ton of python IRC stuff, we could make another one for this application and put it in CGI-Bin if these webservers allow python.

Looked into a bit more and it looks like CGI scripts are the way to go.

DHTML and Java seem to be what makes php-irc clients tick. Both of these things seem blocked (or need add-ons in Firefox)

I think this has something to do with it needing to refresh the page etc. with CGI scripts they can "print" whatever and whenever they want. I think the ideal would be a little frame that has the IRC chat in it so that there is minimal refreshing strain.

I'm no applet and web-program programmer. I should leave this for others. :)

When we get to the end of this contest, what happens when someone is late with their shell submission? Currently, there's nothing in the rules that handle this situation.

I'd like to propose the following amendment to the RAD 2 contest rules for Deadlines:

* If your shell is not received by 23:59 GMT Monday 21 July, you will be disqualified.
* If you have submitted your shell, but it causes URU to crash, you will be notified. Then you must immediately fix the problem and re-submit your shell within one hour of notification, or you will be disqualified.
* If you wish to appeal your disqualification, post your appeal on the GoW forums, stating the reasons for your late submission. All RAD 2 judges will review the appeal, then vote whether to include your submission. The majority of the judges must vote yes for your submission to be included.

What do the judges think?

[EDIT] Clarified point #2

I vote in favor of the proposed amendment. There needs to be a cut-off at some point.
