(My apologies if you think it's out of place that I post in this thread, or if you don't know me at all. Feel free to ignore me).
It is surely frustrating to offer help to a company for years, without ever getting the chance to contribute. And after reading some posts here I understand better some of the Guild's feelings. But are you sure that it's just a problem of Cyan's attitude? Do you think they're so stupid and stubborn to just go "oh, they're offering help, but we're not really used to talk to our fans... let's throw everything in the garbage instead"? Maybe they are, but I see more reasonable explanations. Looking at what happened to them since Prologue closed, you can see that they've always been busy trying to keep their heads above water and recover from the most recent disaster; or, at best, they were developing Uru / Myst V / MOUL content under a publisher without the freedom to involve fans as they pleased. I do not see any significant period when they would have been able to do what they're starting to do now. Am I missing something here?

I think Marten and Andy's posts pretty much sum up my opinion.
This notion that, if we're just nice to them they'll do good things is dangerous if applied to society at large.
That's true. That's why I never said if we're nice to them they'll do good things. I said if we're nice to them or if we're not nice to them will most likely end the same way, but as Andy said, they're more likely to listen to us if we approach them respectfully. Not to say they
will listen to us, because as many of you said cyan never seems to listen to us. I don't think it's naive to see the futility of creating drama for a cause that will almost certainly lead nowhere.
This will be my last post, and I think I've summed things up pretty well.

Judging from recently, raising a fuss tends to get your issue at least looked at far better than petitions (that then cost one of the signers and one of his friends their necessary powers to maintain the forum).

Making a fuss may be more effective, but that doesn't justify it. It violates a basic rule of a civilized society:
The end does not justify the means.Moderation at the MOUL forums is frustrating. The security holes are frustrating. Lots of things are frustrating, and I've "been there" myself, and tried to get my point across to Cyan without luck.
Eventually I stopped trying so hard, because I recognized that I'm not entitled to get my point across. If someone doesn't want to listen, they don't have to. And while that may not seem fair, that is the reality we have to accept.
And I can't force anyone here to listen to my concerns, either.

Heh, yeah, I can't say I care for Cyan; they aren't very nice to either their fans or their staff, despite what many say. I do, however, care to help people share their Ages with other people... and enable people to be able to visit places they have fond memories with; places that Cyan took away. (It is a business dream to be able to keep recharging people for the same thing; that's why MMOs are so appealing to businesses. That's also why rent-to-own stores are so appealing to them.) For example.

Very good sir. And if someday you contract a rare blood disease, I should like to stab you in the heart while shouting, "I'm saving Tsar Hoikas!"* The logic is about the same.
Congratulations! You have graduated from the University of FAIL with a PhD in FAILology! Please insert a quarter to post garbage on a forum.

I have sent RAWA a PM about this.

Sad to see my archive of deleted posts growing so quickly, and sadder that I missed the posts that were deleted the first round.
Quote of the day:
ddfreyne wrote:True. If Cyan wants to appear as a tyrannical dictator, they’re free to do so, and they’re well on track.
Most sad indeed that both Whilyam and Hoikas are threatened with suspension and banning.

My post was removed because it brought up the moderating dispute EtN brought up. Now that I know that, I see where the moderator is coming from. The fact is I didn't consider mentioning the topic's name a violating of that.
