Apparently this details Cyan's new plan of attack. By pumping out more games like this, they'll get the income they need to start Uru up again.

Also, as I thought, GameTap owns almost all the rights to MOUL. I assume they will only consider turning them over after the April 4th deadline is hit.

So, just saying, we probably will see a dead time from now until Summer.

Oh well, gives me time to work on my studies (both for School and D'ni)

*sigh*

Why is it we always learn more about what is going on from reading the news, instead of anything that Cyan says?

They are willing to talk to the news, but not us?

What I'm hoping for is this:

April 4th rolls around, big going away party in-cavern

Rand Miller shows up saying:

"WE NOW HAVE RIGHTS TO URU AGAIN! MYST ONLINE: URU LIVE, SEASON 2, COMING IN TWO WEEKS. FIND INFO AT CYAN WORLDS SITE"

So many OMGS and WTFS would jump from a moment like that ^_^

You are so right. :P It should not be this way. People keep saying they think Cyan has "learned from this experience", and should be more open in the future, or whatever, but they never seem to actually change. Very set in their ways, methinks.

Perhaps the "news" are those pesky investigative reporters poking around where we can't. Industry insiders and such. I certainly hope they're not just making it up. ;)

Hehe,

someone over at MOUL forum posted that the Guilds need to shut our forums up and make them private so that no Turner lawyers show up trying to shut us down......

There's one in every crowd 8-)

But since we're not doing anything illegal (in regards to GameTap/Turner anyway), the idea is just stupid...

Maybe it's people like Uber Fans or whatever, poking around Cyan's headquarters looking for answers when they shouldn't.

Then they probably get caught and Cyan tells em any thing they want to hear so they'll shut up and leave.

I though I had read that, although Gametap has the rights to MOUL, Cyan Worlds still has the rights to Uru CC. Would that mean that Cyan is free to turn around and make an online game based on Uru CC?

They won't because Cyan wanted even Uru to run on MAC, to achieve this, they will stick with the current version of plasma.

You may or may not have noticed the difference in the way the engine handles physics, but every now and again there is a reason PhysX is one of the top physics groups, eg. its lot easier getting the Relto page in Eder Kemo in MOUL than in Uru.

Also if, IF Cyan decides to sell the server code as a separate entity, using the current methods of logging players on means a lot of happy campers, unless you like the long loading times. :)

Kickables, of course, are a different story.

On the topic of Cyan needing income: don't forget this new testing service they're starting for the game industry. They have 30 or 40 testers. I wonder if that can be profitable.
