List of organizational jobs needed

OK I made this proposal in another thread:

I think arguing among ourselves wastes the most amount of time.

Only about 5 or 6 people are debating this issue, and no one seems to want to commit to any specific point.

So new idea.

Lets forget what we "think" will happen and make a list of jobs that need to be filled right now. Let's not rush into this either. I propose those interested, take a break for a few hours or even a day, and think about what we need done organizationally. Then post your ideas.

Once we have a list of jobs that we need filled, we can then move on to how we should fill those rolls.

How does that sound?

Please use this thread to list the jobs you think we need to keep the GOW running smoothly.

Or, go ahead and shoot this idea down if you don't like it.

Website maintenance/updating/expansion (collecting anything and everything useful and organizing and presenting it on the site)

This should probably be broken down into departments, like age-building info and resources, and guild personnel and organization (maintaining lists of jobs, project participants, registered voters, a master memberlist with interests and KI #'s). Other departments might be useful in the future, like a feature page for projects, and a library of shared elements like textures and models. One person could be in charge of organizing each area.

The forum is holding a lot of stuff now, but I think a forum is generally a poor place to store important information. It should be used for discussion, while lists and resources (the kind of things we're keeping in stickies) should have dedicated sections on the site. We need people to assemble all that stuff.

PR (writing intro for website, making the guild business transparent and accessible to the community, posting news and announcements at the usual spots)

Newsletter team (writing/reporting, graphics/layout, assembly, and distribution)

If we're going simple, maybe just

- Head Liason With Cyan (+ 2 or 3 other liasons)
- Head of Project Organization (keeps tabs on all current projects)
- Head of Quality Control (chooses which ages are worth delving into)

Then perhaps department heads:

- Head of Age Design
- Head of Age Modeling
- Head of Age Programming
- Head of Sound Design

I'm under the impression that we're listing jobs, not people. How people will be organized to perform those jobs is still up in the air.

Yes, I think we should focus on what needs to be done, not what roles we think should be created. After much thought, here is a short list of jobs I think need to be taken care of.

1) Website maintenance and set up (already being taken care of)

2) Creation and maintenance of a wiki or other form of organized site to put tutorials, code, links to tools, and anything else pertaining to age building.

3) Writing of a message to put on the imager in the GOW pub that leads players to this forum. Also maintaining that message on the imager.

4) Setting up a newsletter, and distributing it via the GOMes, or independently.

5) Taking lead on the showcase age.

6) writing the story for the showcase age.*

7) Creating conceptual art for the showcase age.*

8) Building the showcase age in Blender.*

9) Python coding and finishing of the showcase age.*

10) Contacting Cyan about possible addition of the showcase age.*

(* I have grossly oversimplified these tasks, and they are more of in the future than needed right now.)

11) Contact the other guilds and figure out how best to utilize each other.

12) Have fun and build some ages. (<=====Most important one! )

That's all I got for now.

Well... for ALL Ages we make... I could do Concept Art and Storyboard Planning.

I've had a lot of ideas flowing with Putan, I'd love to help out with the Showcase Age and anything else that comes up

For instance, adding links - to Noob to Pro and the tutorial list on the Alcugs wiki - to the front page.
