I finally pieced together the movies that Moiety Jean was kind enough to take of the age creation demo / fan-created age walkthough that I presented on Friday. My camera kept stopping the filming process for some reason, so MJ patiently restarted it each time. Consequently, these movies will have slight gaps in them which I tried to cleverly hide with a dissolve transition. Also, you cannot see the screen that well, since the room was quite dark and we were using my LCD monitor for a display - oh, and the movie resolution was set to "economy size".

The demonstration was given in Eleri and Oscelot's room; that's why my laptop is resting on an ironing board. We managed to get about 30 people inside at the end. At one point during the age creation movie, MJ does a 360-degree pan, so you can get a good feel for the attendance.

Anyway - here are the movies. I chopped the presentation into two parts:

It also gave me some insight, yes still learning, into using Bryce, which I had to stop using because it was so non user friendly for me, but at least I/we can make complex terrain very easily.

I took a suggestion from Whilyam and Mowog, and I added screenshots into the age creation video. [The fan created ages demo is still the same - no screenshots.] I also fixed an incongruity at the 3-minute mark where I was in Blender but then jumped over to Bryce.

If you've seen the age creation video already, clear your browser's cache and view it again - it should now make a lot more sense! It hopefully is now at the point where it can suffice as a standalone age creation tutorial.

Robert, it was great to have you present (sweet, two meanings of this word apply!). Getting to see the entire process sort of condensed made it seem much less threatening overall. Thanks so much again!

Yeah, I am hoping that the video will make age creation more accessible to people.

I don't really understand why you showed off Bryce in your lesson... I think it was a bit much for the audience.

Well, having been there, I didn't hear anyone walking away going "Oh, what the heck? I couldn't make heads or tails of that!" All I heard was "Wow, that looks really cool. I want to make Ages too!"
I think everyone understood that Bryce is just one way to make a quick terrain to play with.
