Is someone opening the cavern ?

I don't know if anyone noticed but the status of the Uru live updater changed from "the cavern is closed" to "checking for patcher update..."

does this mean that the server used to send the message "the cavern is closed" witch would mean that the data server is down, or (and that would be great) that the default message for not connecting to the server was "the cavern is closed" and that someone started the data server again ?

Image

and i even saw another message flashing for a second saying "Uru is.." and i didn't catch the rest.

So what do you think that is ?

I wouldn't raise my hopes too high about it... Didn't those MOUL clients connect to GameTap data servers anyway? I beleive that whatever was programmed to display that message is now offline. Either that or the "Uru is..." text you saw may have been the MOUL client switching the server it connects to... Who knows? Bottom line... Don't keep your hopes TOO terribly high.

P.S. I just had an idea... "Uru is..." might have been, "Uru is currently under maintence." Or something like that... *shrugs* Just my thoughts.

 I'm getting the same message...

EDIT: I opened it up again and it now says "initializing patcher"

Huh, Something might be starting back up... I'm gonna get my old beta installer back up.... Keep an eye on this....

Valdez :geek:

EDIT: Nope, my Beta client just stops... It's not connecting to any dataservers... Doesn't get the chance to do anything...

I think all this means is that they've finally gotten around to killing the welcome server (or whatever used to tell you the cavern was closed).

If I'm right, this could mean:
a) they're gathering together all valuables and bringing them to a pawn shop or
b) they're starting to think about trying some very early internal testing going
c) they realized from their power-bill that there was a power-drain somewhere and after a month of (24/7) abstaining from using any electricity they finally figured out that the power used on the power-bill matched the power used by their ?welcome server? at which point they found it and turned it off.
d) all of the above

I offically agree with Lontahv for the most logical of reasons. I myself, choose d). :P No disrespect toward Cyan. I can see them doing all of those things. They are running out of cash.

After some testing i found out that the patcher is trying to connect to "file.urulive.com", a domain name that WHOIS has not reference for, present or past. Urulive.com redirects to Mystonline.com.

The name seems to indicate that it is an old thing unfortunately.

but, who know ? change is a good thing.

"All of this has happened before and will happen again "

er... wrong show

"The ending has not yet been written "

PS: i don't know if you have seen, but this thread has been continued on the mystonline forums and they found out that a knew Cyan employee registered recently.
Something IS going on. (just hope that's not a liquidator or something...)
