Z-Buffer (?) Problems

I'm having problems viewing some objects once my Age is inside URU.

I have a "floating island" thing going on, and I have the surface and the Stalactite (which ever hangs down) as two separate meshes.

I can see the Under-hanging part beautifully, but the surface is missing. The surface is still there, I can walk on it, and when I jump off the edge & look up, I can see the surface but not the Under-hang. I'm pretty it has something to do with the Z-Buffer, but I've ran through the tutorial several times double checking to make sure I did it right, and according to the Tutorials, I did.

The Surface has a +1 on the Z-buffer, the Under-hang does not. I tried setting both Z-Buffers to 0, but that didn't work either. I'm running Blender 2.49.

I don't have access to my good PC right now, but I'll update later with pics.

Thanks in advance for any help.

For me this sounds like your meshes are textured on the wrong side... try flipping the normals (and don't ask me how that's done, I don't know Blender ;-) )

Edit mode - 'W' -flip normals ;)

Would be easier to say when you can post some pics :)

Or make the faces two-sided.

Could someone please explain how to do this. I can't find a reference for this anywhere.... The only way I know is to duplicate the faces, then flip the normals on the new ones.

press f9

Sorry to hijack the thread, but still no cake. Is it different in 2.49b? All I see under multires is "Apply Multires, Add Level, and the levels of multires." A search on blender.org resulted in 0 hits. Argghh..

Edit: I don't have a "Texture Face" tab.

offcourse you have it,
but only when you are in edit mode. :lol

because only in edit mode you can select the faces wanted for twoside texturing.

Hmmm, I'm definately in edit mode, and face select mode. The faces are selected.... Still nothing. The tab you've shown in your post, dendwaler, is the first time I've seen it.

In object mode, only the Multires tab shows. In edit mode, it adds the UV Calculation tab, but no Texture Face..
