Thought you all might want to read over this topic on MC. Just a few questions for the fanbase on how they feel about Fan Created Ages. Could provide some insite into how the GoW looks to people, along with some data on how the fanbase really feels about the possiblity of having "unoffical" stuff in MOULagain.

(And yes, I did start the topic myself. I was curious to see what this "hostility" to the GoW and fan created content was about. While I didn't fully get an explanation, the division of the many answers pretty much speaks for itself.)
It sounds to me like a lot of fans are worried that our content won't be "up to Cyan level", while some will of course toss our work out the window right away simply because it's "fan created".
Hopefully though, once we actually establish ourselves as good age creators, and with Cyan doing some Quality Control of their own, we can prove to the fans that we are up to the task presented us. It's a rough road, and the first few ages we make are probably going to be flamed to death. But like Words says, out of the ashes, a new city will be born.
Some questions on fan created ages
Re: Some questions on fan created ages
I think that once the fans see a few awesome ages come from the GoW attitudes and opinions will change. Especially when the plugin source comes out and we're able to easily add the the subtle nuances that make Cyan's ages "come alive."

Simply put, ANY change coming to Uru will come from here.
After a while everyone gets tired of running around the same Ages, however awesome they are.

Yeah, I'm actually amazed at how long people have been running through the same ages, reading the same story, unraveling the same myste..... Oh, wait, mysteries can only be unraveled once.
Especially concerning the lack of added story (in terms of journals, items, small changes) that permeated MOUL. None of the ages added in MOUL had much story, backstory or background outside of chatlogs.

One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.
