Official Textures

Post by Egon »

Hi all.

Is it possible to export official textures for books?
By that I mean textures used for books object, and textures used as covers in Relto.

"What for?"
Well, I want to make a linking book to Nexus, and other official Cyan Ages.

PRPExplorer can export textures (while PrpShop currently still lacks that functionality), see the GoW wiki. You can then open the Relto prp files and look for the texture for the Shelf. Global textures (like linking images, or covers of the books that pop up) are saved in GUI_District_BkBookImages.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

You could also use Riveal ( http://homepage.mac.com/rshayter/Riveal.html ) on your Uru install =) That'll extract any textures from all .prps in your dat folder, though. Its not 100% perfect, but, its a nice little tool. =)

Riveal is not 100% perfect!?

Seriously, though, if you've encountered a bug, I'd really like to hear about it. I'm always interested in making Riveal (and Revelator) more nearly perfect. Suggestions are also welcome.

And if a new version of Riveal should happen to be in the works, now might be an especially good time for bug reports and suggestions. I'm just saying...

G'day, dear sir!

My only issue with Riveal is the conversion of transparencies. =)

I'll go over my converted files, and let you know what i can find. =) But, yes, other than that, Riveal is awesome, pure awesome.

EDIT: I may be forgetting some other issues, too, or forgetting the exact details of the issues. I'll have to check my files, again. =)

Riveal 7.0 had a problem with the translucency of textures extracted from Myst V. Could that be what you're thinking of? The bug was fixed in 7.1. (The current version is 9.2.)

Let me check the version I was using... It appears I was using 9.0.

Oddly enough, I can't see to find the issues I'd seen. My mistake, I guess.
