My New Machine

Post by Aikijitsu »

Shorah Guild!

Well I just finished my computer last night, and all my friends are jealous.
Here's the breakdown of some of the stuff in it:

Tyan server motherboard
Intel i7 quad core processor (2.53 GHz)
4 gigs of RAM
750gig HD
Sapphire 5670 1gig HD video card (DVI-D)
Windows 7 64-bit
LG 19 inch flat HD flat panel

This computer makes absolutely no sound at all unless the DVD drive is running. It was a pin to set up because my tower was smaller than it should have been(but still it's a 20 pound tower)

I'm installing Uru:CC to see how it runs.

now on to the task of learning Blender. Blender is still the way to go correct?

Nice. That's a hundred times better than my old "steam machine". :D

I'm surprised it makes no noise. Do you have sufficient cooling?
My rig has 9 fans and is quite noisy. Granted, it is more powerful than yours, but still I'm surprised.
I suggest using a temperature-monitoring utility and testing your rig under stress, such as a video performance test.

I have 1 120 mm fan for the back of the tower. 1 120mm latched on to my massive heat sink. my vid card has a fan, and I have 2 90mm fans at the front of the tower. I never feel it overheated yet.

I think my heat sink is very efficient. my IT helped me put on the finishing touches, and when she opened up the tower, she said "wtf is that monster?" all the fans are supposed to be noise reducing fans, and the tower has noise reducing panels and mounts.

So, how do I do the temperature test and the stress test?

Usually an utility is included on the CD that comes with the MB for checking temps and fan speeds.
Any video benchmark utility can be used for the test.

Your setup seems OK, although you only have one exhaust fan for all the heat inside the case. But if your temp stays under 60 or so you're good.
