I want to experiment and import an Age into Blender. I have multiple Blender's installed, but following the wiki guide, I am using 2.45. I have also downloaded the pyprp import files from the link and have placed them in my .blender/scripts dir.
Now if I try to import an Age, (File>Import>PYPRP), Box: "Full Age / Single Age", select Full Age I get "Python Script Error Check Console" message, I check the console and I get a lot of stuff which is meaningless to me. The only thing I have done which is not 'standard' is installed Blender in C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation_2.45\Blender (as I don't want to overwrite existing versions)
I get stuff about "Python Crypto Toolkit not found..Myst 5 files disabled"
and
File "<string>", Line 53, in <module>
File C:\Program Files\Blender\Blender Foundation_2.45\Blender\.blender\scripts\alcresmanger.py", line 38, in <module>
and several similar lines
and "ImportError: No Module named yaml"
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Importing Ages into Blender
Re: Importing Ages into Blender
You just might be on the first of a long line of errors that I went through until I finally got the ages to import, and I still haven't gotten the textures to map properly. Before you can import ages, make sure you A) have converted them to PotS ages with Drizzle and B) have installed all the required packages, like yaml and Python Crypto Toolkit. I use PyPRP 0.5 with my importer.
Re: Importing Ages into Blender
Ya, importing is probably kinda broken.
In any case, your error indicates you didn't install PyYaml

Re: Importing Ages into Blender
Ok..got it. But how do you install it? The instructions are vauge at best.
Re: Importing Ages into Blender
I seem to be getting nowhere with this.
ok...got PyYAML-3.10.win32-py2.5.exe and installed it.
Now I have yet another meaningless set of errors when I try (File>Import>PYPRP), Box: "Full Age / Single Age", select Full Age I get "Python Script Error Check Console" message, I check the console and get...

File:"C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation_2.45\Blender\.blender\scripts\alc_AnimClasses.py", line 34, in <module>
ImportError: No Module Named Image
????

Do you have troubles with PyPRP? PyPRP Troubleshoot FAQ to the rescue! Most of the common PyPRP error messages are explained on this page.

"ImportError: No module named Image"
You need to install the Python Imaging Library. Find it here: Installing PyPRP

Re: Importing Ages into Blender
I must admit I'm getting close to giving up with this...
I seem to have nearly every version of Blender, Python and assorted miscellaneous python addons and whatnots installed and no matter what I do, I get error after error after error.
Is there some really, really, easy to follow, guaranteed-to-work method of importing a MOUL Age (even if its via Drizzle) into Blender (any version as I have all of them). Without ambiguity, funny weird messages, errors or anything else that assumes I am the software equivalent of a particle physicist and is specifically designed to try my patience.
I really want to do this, but I've been at this for ages and I'm no where close to it. I would like to rip everything off and start again with a nice easy guide. Is there such a thing?
Please help!

Re: Importing Ages into Blender
The only time I could successfully import single prps (never complete Ages) was with pyprp 0.5.
And then not from all Ages, and then only at full moon, after sacrificing a lamb and a virgin or two.

Re: Importing Ages into Blender
This is weird, the importer isn't really problematic to install and use. I haven't used it in a while, but I never really had much problem with it. It won't import all Ages, and in the Ages it import it certainly doesn't import everything. But most of the time it just works. At the very least it starts without giving out any weird errors.
The only installation guide there is is the wiki page; and it tells you everything needed. And the installation is not different from the installation of other PyPRP versions.
Let's see how we can fix your issue. What is the latest unsolved error that you have?

Re: Importing Ages into Blender
I too have been everywhere and back with this problem for years. Every now and then I stumble upon a combination that works... for some ages.. sometimes
A hard drive dies or whatever and the same combination simply won't perform at all.. doh! is my only conclusion on this one.
