Hopefully this is the right place to ask this...
When I create a Linking book in my Age, I have to specify the Age that I want it to link to (Nexus, Ae'gura, Relto, Myst or whatever), and then I have to specify something called a spawn point; is that right? Is there a simple way to find out the various spawn points in an Age so that I know which one to use? Am I even asking the right questions?

Spawn points
You've just got to accept it... some days you're the pigeon, some days you're the statue.
Re: Spawn points
That's right. Generally, it should be enough to use "LinkInPointDefault" if you want the player to spawn at the age's default spawning location. Otherwise, you'll have to use a tool like PlasmaShop and open the PRP files of your age to determine the spawn points.
If you are focusing on TPotS and you're using the OfflineKI, you can also look into the AvailalbleLinks.inf. There are many spawn points in there.

Re: Spawn points
Looking at the PRP however can only give you the spawn point name. You will also need a spawn point title, which you have to coordinate with the author of the age you are linking to.
If you want to link to a Cyan age, you can find the proper title by looking at how Cyan links there. Those that are already used by some fan age (plus a few more) at listed at

How are you doing the link, i.e. where are you setting up the linking details?
EDIT: When it comes to linking, please also read http://forum.guildofwriters.org/viewtop ... f=7&t=5004 . I know it is long, but linking is a complex matter and often done wrong.

I'm not quite sure I understand you there... I'm very new to age creation, and to be quite honest this is all in theory at the moment. I should probably have a read up on the wiki.diafero wrote:How are you doing the link, i.e. where are you setting up the linking details?

Re: Spawn points
Rading the wiki and the forum post I mentioned above is definitely a good ideaI'm not quite sure I understand you there... I'm very new to age creation, and to be quite honest this is all in theory at the moment. I should probably have a read up on the wiki.

My question was: Which specific steps did you take, in 3ds Max and/or other programs, to add a link to your age? There are several ways to achieve this.
