D'ni in Unreal! :D

Post by Yali »

Since Blender was giving me a headache, I decided to try my hand at Unreal 4 and create a little D'ni location. Tell me if it works.

Nice ! :D Unreal's fancy effects improve so much the ambiance of locations, even as small as this only room...

I just wish we had an Unreal shard dedicated to creating and playing high quality Fan-Ages... *dreams away*

I agree,
That would be something!
iIn the background i am also playing with it now and then.
Even a small shard allowing 10 to 15 players is sufficient.
When you already are matured in Blender, then unreal is not to difficult to learn.
I wish we could once play all ages in virtual reality. :D
And hope i am not too old already, to see that happen.
Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.

Hi, Yali, I believe sth went wrong with your upload ... I was already wondering why my download bar didn't show the size of the file, and it 'downloaded' and 'downloaded', and when I felt a suspicion and stopped the process there was nothing downloaded, a file with almost zero size lol ... Then I tried it again and looked for some file info on the download page, it is at the bottom of that page, and there it is, it says 'Size:0 KB' ... :P

I managed to download the 1.2 version, and it runs just fine. Janaba, your browser won't display the progress bar while it's downloading (this happens on some servers), and the file is quite big (~500 meg). So while it may look buggy, it could actually still be downloading...
Although it's weird that the website itself says the file is 0kb... Could just be a bug on their end, though...

Oh, I'm sure we will one day. Maybe not on Unreal, but I recall someone got Uru working with a development version of Oculus Rift a while ago. So when OR is available, we shouldn't have to wait too much for basic compatibility with Uru. Even though one must be cautious when saying something may "happen soon" on Uru

But indeed, even a smallish Unreal shard would be cool to test out some Ages (usually there aren't many Uru players at once on a Shard anyway). But then, setting up and hosting a Shard is still tricky, and so far Yali's work is the only thing that could be added to it... :|
I miss AndyLegate. All his experiments on Unreal were quite interesting as well.

Oh, wow, really? ... I think it's really weird not to know how much you're about to download, but ok, thanks, Sirius, so, I'll try it tomorrow again ... :P

I got the grabby hand back! Now i'm just trying to figure out how to center it in the screen like in Exile and Myst V. Also got rid of the projectile mechanic.
