Hello,
Drizzle doesn't work at all. Either, Java 8 doesn't recognize it. (I read a topic where Sirius said he was using Drizzle & Java 8 ?!? How...)
Or, if I go back with Java 6, Drizzle works but nothing is happening. I get a error: You are running a Vista or Windows 7 system...
I cannot download any age list at all. Even when I'm telling my Anti-virus to let Java connect to the Internet, it doesn't work much.

Re: Issue with Drizzle (Java 8 & Windows 10)
Try moving the slider.
How can Drizzle be BOTH working and having nothing happen at the same time?
I also get that warning for running Windows Vista or seven every time I start Drizzle but it never kept me from doing anything.
(Whoops, I sort of overlooked the whole part about this specifically being about Windows 10 in the title)

Re: Issue with Drizzle (Java 8 & Windows 10)
I have the same problem
Windows 10 Pro will not allow Drizzle to run - all other java programs (on my system) are operational
Java jre1.8.0_65 is what I have currently loaded

Re: Issue with Drizzle (Java 8 & Windows 10)
Well, yeah, I'm running Drizzle 31 with Java 1.8.0_20 64bits, but on Windows 8. It could be an issue with Windows 10.
Or it could be that some versions of Drizzle and Java don't work together. If you switched to Win10 recently, make sure you upgraded Java too, and make sure you're using the latest Drizzle (version 31)

This message is a bit outdated (I think it was removed from the latest version of Drizzle). The only thing you need to remember when using Uru on Windows Vista and 7 to 10 is to install the latest No-CD patch, which fixes a few things in Uru for these versions of Windows.Annabelle wrote:I get a error: You are running a Vista or Windows 7 system

Re: Issue with Drizzle (Java 8 & Windows 10)
OK - I found my problem - I had to DELETE all old versions of Java and THEN load the 32 bit Java version (my Browser is 32 bit) - I had the 64 bit version loaded...
Then I did a COLD restart...

How to make Drizzle work on Windows 10
Hurray!!! <-- That's the 2nd one today
I finally succeeded to get Drizzle to work just like uruskydiving.exe earlier
Thanks to Wam who put me on the right track as to what was the issue.
Since I'm not sure which Java I should use, I followed this recommendation from the official website Java.com: "in case of uncertainty, install both 32 bits & 64 bits on your system". I did that because I have 4 browsers on my PC and I'm sure some are 64 bits, some might be 32 bits.
Instructions to use Drizzle correctly on Windows 10 64 bits system:
1) Install a fresh URU:CC game (from CD or more easier, from GOG.com)
2) Make sure you put your folder far far ... far away from c:\program files\
3) Install the latest Java version(s) as of today jre-8u65-windows-i586 (32 bits) & jre-8u65-windows-x64 (64 bits), preferably both. You have to match your browser(s) with java. If you have a 64 bits OS, it doesn't matter, it's the browser (32 bits or 64 bits).
4) Download Drizzle 31 at Sourceforge.net: http://sourceforge.net/projects/drizzle ... =directory
5) Change the server to http://www.the-deep-island.de/uru-ages/
6) Select your POTS folder (where you put it far far... far away from c:\program files\)
That's it! It will work

Re: How to make Drizzle work on Windows 10
Glad to hear you both solved it !
The tip about avoiding Program Files is a good one, though - Windowz is a bit annoying when it comes to security in this folder, so most games should avoid the location, especially if you're regularly modifying them. Personally I put all my games in C:/Games, makes everything simpler.

Drizzle doesn't rely on your webbrowser, this tip is just if you want to execute Java programs in webpages (which is rarely useful anyway). Since Drizzle is on your desktop, you should be able to pick the 64 version if your OS supports it (at least, that's the theory).Annabelle wrote:You have to match your browser(s) with java. Re: How to make Drizzle work on Windows 10
I also agree with Sirius and Annabelle GET Those games as far away from the Program Files Folders as possible
Personally I have replaced my Laptop Harddrives with 2 Solid State Drives (Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB 2-5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD). ALL of my Games are on The "D Drive"
And even though my Laptop is 5 years old it is still rated by PC Matic and Speedtest.net in the top 3%...

Since when has there been a Drizzle 31?Annabelle wrote:4) Download Drizzle 31...
My info was that there would never be any future versions after Drizzle 30 due to the author retiring. I use Drizzle 30 on Windows 7 and have for a long time now, does Drizzle 31 have any changes to conversion results or is it only for compatibility help with Windows 10? Even though Drizzle 30 isn't perfect, I seriously don't want to think I'd have to reconvert anything/everything.
Edit: Decided post sounded strangely angry.
Re: How to make Drizzle work on Windows 10
Right, I just checked again, Drizzle 31 has almost no changes from Drizzle 30 - it just contains a few bugfixes, which should hardly make any difference. This is something Dustin did before leaving, and since there weren't any major changes he didn't create a new topic for it.
Things that were changed (source):
- minor changes in the UamKiPlugin (this is something outside Drizzle.jar, I don't think it's important)
- a change in the default UAM address (which is now outdated again, yay)
- some code cleanup (meaning the behavior is most likely left unchanged)
Since the conversion code wasn't touched, you can safely use either Drizzle30 or Drizzle31 for Fan-Ages, playing MystV stuff on DI, etc. And it should run normally on any version of Windows as well.

Maybe there will ? Who knows, someone might step up to take over Drizzle development. It's an open source project after all.Ehren wrote:My info was that there would never be any future versions after Drizzle 30 due to the author retiring.
