Gehn 24 - won't start on my win8.1 laptop

It works fine on my old laptop but whenever I try to start it on my good laptop, I get as far as agreeing to the EULA, then the Cyan logo music starts but the screen stays black, with a small spinning blue cursor, and simultaneously I get "Error URU has experienced a serious error and needs to close. Please submit your log folder to the developer".
Would the crash.dmp file be the right one to send?
Edited - is this the same problem we had a while back - you said then that you'd broken windowed mode...

I currently have the exact same problem, but with a Win7 laptop.
