"Stable" old PyPRP version released

Post by Trylon »

Shorah

In PyPRP there have been a couple of major changes recently, and there are more changes upcoming.

Because we recognize the need for builders to have some sort of stability and consensus in the version of PyPRP they're using, we have put out one of the recent versions of PyPRP as a "stable" version.

Now, this version is not the latest version, in fact it is the version before that.
This is because the latest version already saw some under-the-hood changes, as well as some interface changes, and one or two unexpected bugs.

So, please not that this is not a new version, but a recent version, before upcoming major changes in plugin usablity.
It boils down to this:
-If you need stability in your building team, use this stable version.
-If you are just starting and want a stable reference, use the stable version.
-But If you want cutting-edge changes, use the latest version :)

I hope this will be an appreciated service.

Is the subversion repo listed on the Alcugs wiki still the place to get the code for this?
Also, how would one join in on developing this plugin?

No, ths subversion repo isn't the place,

It's obtainable from http://alcugs.almlys.org/wiki/index.php/GetPRPBlenderPlugin#PyPRP-stable-0.5.

To help with PyPRP developement, you should contact one of the current developers, that would currently be me, Paradox, or perhaps Robert the Rebuilder.

Does this version support the Z-offset setting and the NoMist material feature?

No, we chose for one version before that, since the latest already contains major updates, including the need to install pyYaml.

For all intents and purposes, this version should be considered legacy in a short time.

That's a good idea; that will make things easier for people who use it.

Then, I'll wait before adding NoMist/Z-offset features for my Ages yet.
