Shorah. I figured I'd post here, partially because if I'm going to be in this guild I will be writing journals, stories, etc. and I heard you need people like that, and also because I've been searching these forums for the last hour or so and only come across progress reports. You say what you've done, but you don't say what you need, it seems.
So this is sort of an introduction and an orientation. I'm Geckat. I'm an experienced and (so I'm told) proficient writer with little programming knowledge or texturing/modeling talent. I'm also a keyboardist and a D'ni linguist, and I dunno how many of those you have in here but I might be of use in that as well. I've been interested in the Guild of Writers since even before I became an Explorer, so that's my history.
I've also heard that this place is incredibly disorganized, so I hope to help with that both by being an active member and contributer here as well as through the CCC (which will hopefully be successful). I want to go places, and not be held back by promises of an eventual official intervention.
So, wish me peace so I don't feel isolated (

) and let me know what I can be doing. Give me the lowdown on what's going on so I have an idea of where I can fit in. If you don't, I'll find something. I'll also use this thread for whatever ideas pop into my head, so I won't bog down your servers.

Welcome Geckat.
Sounds like you are revving to go. Great!
We are not disorganized, we are in the process of organizing. Be careful with the rumors going around. This community is known to blow things out of proportion.
We have elected a
new council of very capable individuals. We have also began many discussions on how to organize the information needed to create new ages.

Well, it's not the cavern that's been telling me about your lack of organization. Most of the complainers are Writers. However, I'll wait until Saturday to make my own mind up.
Thanks for the welcome, BAD.

I think you've been listening to the wrong rumors.
Before this forum was started, there were a great number of different sites and forums, with almost similar and confusing names, so I guess there was a lack of organization in the writers community, at least from an outsider's point of view. It was difficult to see the "big picture".
Since the renewed interest brought by Cyan's emphasis on fan-made Ages, most people involved in Age building have moved here, and some forums have even been merged into this one. This is pretty much the one-stop place to go now.
If anything, GoW is TOO organized now: we even got a council

Not that organization (or lack thereof) should have any impact on your writing abilities of course. Just pick a subject you like and open the floodgates of your imagination!

I didn't mention the Cavern. This community, I was referring to, is the entire Uru community. Many people have different outlooks on situations. There seems to be a large number of people who worry about the future of things in the Uru community. It is not a bad thing to do this, it is just not a completely accurate portrayal of the whole situation.
I personally believe this guild has the potential to do some great things. It already is in the form of tool development, and creativity.

By disorganized you mean we don't have tools from Cyan yet? Well... yea
But we're organized in the way that we have projects in the works... and a couple plans for new Ages and concepts to propose to Cyan and get them interested in giving us the tools to make them.
Apart from that, Welcome to the GoW!

Whoa, heheh, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'd just taken this concept of disorganization as fact, since I'd heard it initially from several Writers. If it's going to stir confusion and have people initially misgiving towards me, forget I said anything. Right now, I just want to know what I can be doing to help out. I'll be going to the all-guilds meeting this Saturday, and then I believe the Writers have a meeting directly after. I'll reserve judgment until then, so don't worry about it and give me something to do because as I said before, I can't find a thread that remarks on what is still needed.

Shorah, Mihroth. I heard a few weeks ago that Uru will be coming back, so this seems to be the best place for me to be! It's great to see you here, Stranger. My D'ni's a little rusty after these months, especially since I've been delving into other languages, but I'd be very happy to lend my linguistic abilities, as well as my musical and creative if they're ever needed, if you'll excuse my "poof"

. I was never good at judging how far things are coming here in the GoW (as you can tell by the posts above me), but the Guild of Linguists doesn't seem to have anything officially new since January. But now that the GoW is going to be acknowledged by Cyan and given all the tools it needs, perhaps I can be of use here.
