That's all, folks

Uru will live, everyone. I am trying to figure out some way it can happen, but splitting up the Guilds won't do it.

We need to hold a meeting, before MOUL shuts down, between ALL of the Guilds.

We must decide what the best course of action is. A possible thing to do is meld all of the Guilds into a new DRC, with the Five Guild Masters superceeding everything that goes on to continue the Myst dream.

Another thing: The old Uru Live. If Cyan released it's source code, plus with Blender and our own servers, Uru Live could come back with new content, though it wouldn't be at the caliber of Cyan Worlds' work.

No guild meeting is going to solve much. As far as continuing uru goes, there are only two choices. Get Cyan to approve and release some sort of server, or make one. One of the guilds has just become obsolete, (messengers) another has lost it's current home, (greeters) two have had their future workload drastically reduced, (cartographers, maintainers) and one is without a long term goal. (writers) The only way for the guilds to fully exist is in the context of the online uru environment. The immediate future, however, is more likely to be shaped by reactions, rather than actions.

I can tell you right now that the Maintainer's reaction, is to try and find something to do, even if that means only inspecting Fan Ages, many enjoy doing that already, and gave them something to do during this hiatus.

Not all will feel that way, but the current Guildmasters do feel that way over there. They know it wouldn't be any MOUL, but it would be SOMETHING.

They agree that splitting up wouldn't help anything, and just make people feel lost, or more depressed.

You are very right about the poor messengers and greeters. But perhaps many of them would be willing to become Writers, Maintainers, and Cartographers.

Then again, I do believe that the Messengers might have a shred of hope. Writing stories and things about stuff going on with our guilds anyway. Posting how things are coming with Fan made objects........etc.

I know it's not the same.

Heh............seems like all of us ARE trying to find a way, and make a home! ;)

The Messangers and Maintainers have VERY important jobs!

The Messangers keep track of all information concerning what happend with MOUL and what will come from the rest of us Guilds.

The Greeters? HEAD TO OTHER GAMES. GET PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE STORY OF MYST. GET MORE PEOPLE TO TRY AND HELP US. Also, I agree that MANY of these people could easily join the rest of us Guilds :)

Also, the Cartographers. MAP PLAYER-MADE AGES. The Maintainers. EXPLORE PLAYER-MADE AGES.

Honestly, we all STILL have a job to do, and if a Guild were to disband, it would destroy the hope of many people that Uru would come back. I'm still hoping and I'm sure we can fix things.

I understand, but honnestly I don't think GT is to blame. They gave the game a whole year to work.. Which one year more than what Ubi gave it.
So, as sad as it is, clearly the problem here doesnt' come from the publisher.

Ahem!

I'm happy to announce, that as of now, the Pre-Guild of Maintainers has dropped the Pre.

We are now the Guild of Maintainers. No if's, and's or but's about it.

Here is Mustard Jeep's quote that he posted on the MOUL forums:

Alright the last card in this hand of Uru has been played and it is a bitter one.

I came to D'mala and by extension MO:UL for a single reason, sadly I guess I will not be seeing that particular door opened in MO:UL. While here it was my privilege to get involved with those as interested in the Maintainers Guild as I was, and helped to lay the groundwork in MO:UL for what I hoped the Maintainers Guild will become. I loved doing all I could as head of communications.

The time however it seems has passed for supporting Cyan's vision for the Guilds, and on behalf of my friends I formally drop "Supporter" from our title.

We are all the Guild of Maintainers there will be for Myst Online Uru Live.

The Guild of Maintainers GuildMaster's have already started talking on the Maintainer Forums about what comes next.

Yes it is going to be slower then if MO:UL was going but the Writers have already expressed the fact that they will continue on as always outside of MO:UL, and the general feeling among the Maintainers is that we still want to work with them. Besides most of the fun stuff we had been doing was like the Guild of Writers done in Uru:CC.

Where things go now is uncharted but the last days of MO:UL will be spent doing things with friends and seeing whats worth saving from MO:UL. I'll be sending out a newsletter via KI mail later tonight, and PM'ing a few people to see if they still want to continue on with us.

As a fellow Guildmaster in the Maintainers, I do give him my full support.

And y'all have to drag me away from here and making more Ages (and getting better and better at them....) ;)

Honestly... maybe it's just a lack of knowledge.

I know 6,000 people is a lot in our book, but the United States alone has 300 MILLION people. Small number who support Uru Live...

If the Explorers could get together and find ways to get people INTERESTED in an Online Myst game, or at least interested in Myst itself, it could do wonders for a recreation of MOUL

I agree with Nek'rahm. I think that the best thing for MOUL to survive right now is for the Guilds to come together. If we can build these communities together more tightly (because, aside from individual fansites and fora, and of course the MOUL forums, they are the closest we will have to the game itself) we can continue the future of the cavern.

I have a feeling there's something more inspirational to say, but I can't think of it...
