For the RAD judges:

Please come on to the "#RAD" channel on "tsunami.justirc.net" (If you don't have a client--I use XCHAT) sometime in the afternoon tomorrow to get ready for most of the judging(sunday). Please, If you're a RAD judge, show up in: "tsunami.justirc.net/rad" tomorrow afternoon(about 7pm EST).

Note to RAD contestants:

You will not be allowed to go onto this channel during meetings.

Ok, maybe. What if you can listen but not talk? Does that sound ok? :)

HANG ON, LONTAHV!

My understanding was that we would look at the ages on our own, scoring them from 1-5 on each of the criteria. We would then come together to discuss and collate our thoughts and scores for each age.

To do this, we need to have a week to properly look at the ages in depth. Only then would we be able to announce a winner.

Two other points:
1 Not everyone uses IRC, nor have they any desire to. It would be more appropriate to select a tool that everyone on the judging team is comfortable with (and to discuss it with colleagues before setting it up ;) ).

2 7 pm EST is in the middle of the night for Europeans, which is where all the other judges live.

Of course, if the Writers on the judging team want to get together and do their individual work via IRC that's fine by me. But when we come to pool everyone's thoughts, it really needs to be via a single user-friendly channel such as MSN or Yahoo or Teamspeak or the chat channel on the GoMa site, which you mentioned in an earlier post.

I can provide a Ventrilo server if needed.

Uhm, Teamspeak, Yahoo, MSN, and Ventrilo are just as difficult as using IRC for those that don't want to use IRC, since they all require individual clients, and in some cases, accounts. (which I would think is more of a hassle than getting a client) I think the only thing that would work for everyone that has been mentioned so far would be the maintainer's chat, since it's web-based.

My bad, I went through, and I forgot to mention that you'll have a week to judge both individually and as a group to come out with an overall winner.

I can go with Nad on this, there are more options than IRC, perhaps jumping over to the Maintainers form, and discuss the medium to chat over is more appropriate if discussed on the Maintainers forum, as its them and a few writers that will make up the judging panel.

I have to admit it would be really cool for us non judges to listen in on your guys as you explore our Ages. Just to see what your first reactions are (but not to interfere or be talking ourselves).

What about if we judge in pairs? (i'd judge with another judge) so, say I judge with another judge in the US then we talk on IRC? and then people can listen. :)

I (just for me) would like another person I could kind of explore with. But since it's not live---we can use chat. Is there a judge out there that 7-whatever EST would be convenient for them to judge? If so, would you like to meet me on Maintainer-chat ?

Sorry for trying to jerk-around the other judges--they can do what they want and I can do what I want and everyone can be happy. :)

Great. Maintainer-Chat seems borked.
