Personally, I wouldn't know what to do with Andy's blend file. If it comes to a vote, I say we don't need to have it.

Feel free to import it.
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.

Just think of it this way, Andy:

If you have a really good way of making ages then we can learn how to do it your way and teach others to do it the same way also. Just like the cyan ages, we can import and learn. :)

ULM can easily handle Ages that have been downloaded in zip files, extracted, and placed in the /dat directory. It shouldn't be an issue until the Ages are actually be released as winners.

Yup. For now there's nothing that should prevent people from submitting their Ages. I have even provided a ftp access for those who can't e-mail their submission. That server can also be used by the judges for downloading the files (using ULM or not).

Actually, looking back at the thread, it is only a question from Aloys this afternoon and an opinion from Dot.
This isn't looking like an official criteria to me. I think some people are over-reacting.

My bad then, sorry to scare everyone. :) I was just under the impression that it might be easier to judge some technical things like polycounts or to investigate bugs or other imperfections. It is pretty comon practice in contests of this kind. For instance in programming contest coders will provied their source code,in Photosho art contest people will provide their PSD files etc.
But as pointed out this was not made an official requirement at the beginning of the contest, and since Dot and I were the only one to raise the question I think we can forget all this. :)

Can we get an extension of the deadline of 24 hrs, so I can get the contest ULM fixed?

Personally I have nothing against this.

Just out of curiosity, I imported Zephyr Cove into blender. Took about 10 minutes for it to import.

And it doesn't look like the blend file! Of course I could be importing it wrong too.

But if it comes down to that, I'd rather you look at the blend file, not an import, which looked horrible.

But again, it's not up to me. Up to the team. I can't just say "Da heck with it" whether I agree or not, is not the issue. Breaking my teams trust would be an issue. Even though you can import the age (and just how do I stop you from doing that? I can't of course), I'm sure they will agree, I just have to ask them is all.

Sorry, but I'm a stickler when it comes to honesty. Guess it comes from having been a criminal and done some serious time.

Hmm, what do you think about not having a 24hour lump of time added to the contest. :)

What about just pushing the deadline to 9pm EST? How does that sound? If you have an age you want to submit I'd highly suggest that you start trying to submit now--because it'll probably find that you'll still be trying to submit by 9pmEST. :P

Well as I've already submitted my Age, am waiting on replies from people, I'm off then for awhile. I'm missing some serious Oblivion Game time here, and have been for 2 weeks now, so I'm off to go fight in the Arena, and get lost in the wilderness some more.

I'll check back later.

My apologies. I didn't understand the Blender implications, and thought that that was necessary for the Writer judges to check the ages.

My bad.

Ok, and only because this is the first competition and i'll setup a feedback topic in a couple of days or straight after the winner has been announced.
In this rare case i'll let it pass, but ONLY for uploading because we've had problems, 12:00 Monday PST sound ok?

Also its too late to make a requirement to submit the .blend file with your output files, but I leave it to the discretion of the team or builder if they want to submit thier .Blend file

The last thing is that Dot asked is what time frame to disclose the winner, I believe sometime on Friday PST, does that sound reasonable?
