Has anyone bothered to ask Cyan about this?

I know we don't want to pester Cyan, however, if GT is going to be publishing the single player version of Uru, will the old permissions that we have still stand?

In other worlds, will we still be able to obtain FCAL's for Ages we make? Something that nobody has reported getting since November by the way.
Or are we now going to have to ask GT for a FCAL?

That little line of information may not seem that important since this discussion is geared towards having a online community with Uru. However, what we are doing right now, is messing with the single player version.

Will GT now turn around and tell us to shut down? I think this is something we need to find out. We might have to wait too, but that single statement almost sounds like Cyan has given GT the publishing and IP rights of the offline version of Uru

Oh, yah, here's a pic of it in their catalog, so it's not a joke or rumor:

I would be really surprised if Cyan had given GT the IP rights to Uru. GT has the Publishing rights. (Which essentially mean they can sell the game.) So far Cyan always handled FCALS and other similar legal requests because they own the IP rights for all their games, which means (among other things) that they get to decide who has a right to create content based of that, fiddle with the game (hacking), etc.. As long as you do something with Uru and you publish it that requires Cyan's agreement. And that also means that they retain the rights to produce new games or any other things related to the IP.(movies, books, Tshirts, merchandising stuff of all kinds, etc)
This is their most precious belonging regarding Uru, and I would be very surprised if they gave it away to GT (or anyone else). Beside, I don't see what GT would do with those...

We'll see, but I do worry a lot about this.

errrrr Aloys?

This has gotten interest in Hollywood so far I've heard. To all I know of it, nothing Uru is in the movie... but GT may try to get money out of it if this movie goes Hollywood...

I dunno... sketchy territory lately :\

Nek'rahm,

I don't see how that project applies to the situation.

I can say this with almost complete assurance. Cyan has not given GT the IP rights to Uru. I doubt Cyan has ever done that since it's licensing issues with Ubisoft, and I doubt they will ever do it again.

If they have a plan it is most likely that they want to run Uru on their own, or something similar. If they can't make that plan happen they will most likely turn to the community to keep Uru going.

I hope.

Hoo boy. Looks like we need something to take our minds off of this silence from Cyan so that we don't drive ourselves crazy.

Another RAD competition, anyone?

:D
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.
