Idea for end of my age... can I do this

While trying to decide what all I wanted to include in Anam, I had an idea. I do not know if we are allowed to do this, so I thought I would check here before I got real excited about the idea and wrote my story around it.

When you finally enter the last room of the pyramid, you find a linking book. As URU live will be off by the time this gets done, it would do no good to have a link to there. What if I put a link as in Myst, with the books the boys were in. You could make them out but the picture wasn't good. What if I had a book in the office with a picture of somewhere in D'ni but the picture jumps and is fuzzy and I wouldn't try to use it. I do not know if this is even allowed. Any input would be helpful.

You might be in luck, as Aloys has just found a trick using animated textures for linking panels.

Okay, it's a wonderful idea and sounds interesting.

However, the question of legally using the exsisting graphics for linking panels came up. It's been generally agreed that we can use the linking panel graphics that exist as long as we use the python file to point to them. In other words, we don't include the texture in our Age files (as that is distributing copyright material), nor do we modify the existing texture and include it with our Age files (again, you are distributing copyright material, and have modified it).

Now, if you're talking about screen shots from like RealMyst or something, that might be different. However, you also said "build a story around it".
Cyan has asked us to steer clear of things like, making Ages where the D'ni have already been, asking us to make up our own stuff.
There might be a question of violating IP rights here. Why don't you lay out the synopsis of your story too? I'm sure there are many on here that can tell you if they think it violates that or not. Who knows? You might be good to go.
