I have updated Sonavio (download link in the first post of this thread) with some new features including a brand new font in the journal. I would appreciate it (if you have time) if you would redownload it and test the font works ok.
Please read the NEW installation instructions included in the zip file as there are NEW files to install (including the font) ... Overwrite any existing files and add the new ones ... You might also want to delete the Sonavio_000xxx.sav file from your sav folder too ... so you start with a brand new version)

EDIT July 2008:

(Oh, and if you find it, please, do not use the linking book unless you recognise the age from the linking panel inside the book and have it installed ... otherwise Uru will close and say "some files are missing or corrupt". This wont harm your installation, but it can be quite unnerving... ;)

This is no longer the case...you can safely link inot the book

Thanks in advance ... :)

I checked it out. Look for my comments in your thread over on the Maintainers Forum......

Of course my machine isn't low end, but still wanted to look at it. Your font is great.

All readable here. And the Age continues to intrigue.

--The new font: looks good.

--The water dripping sound: Facing the door being in 3rd person view I can't hear the sound, but turning round and standing with my back to the door I hear it. In first person view I always hear it.

--The change of the camera view when the music (I love it!) starts looks very good.

Ok guys, as some of you may know, I haven't been doing much writing recently but I thought I should post the latest "progress" to Sonavio. There is a (very small) new area and a few extra "things" to find. I'd appreciate it if you can confirm that everything (particularly the new font - updated) is working.

(Download link is on the first post of this thread). Please re-read the Installation instructions in the zip file.

I know there is a sound issue: Due to the way the pluging currently works, the "state" (playing or not playing) of sounds is saved to the Sonavio.sav file (I don't know yet how to stop that happening) so... if you link (or link out) with a certain sound playing... it will be playing the next time you link in. I'm hoping this is something that can be fixed in the next "official" plugin release.

Anyhow... I thought I'd release this today as it's MOUL close-down day... my way of saying Thank You to everyone whose been so kind to me there (as well as here and on the other forums of course!)

Enjoy ... and I look forward to your feedback (albeit small)

Bob

This Age is shaping up very nicely and you have obviously put some time and effort into alot of the minor details of lighting, shadows and texturing. The ambient sounds are fitting and the journal work is excellent. Keep Writing this one, it's really starting to take on it's own character and I'm interested to see how it continues to shape up.

Now that's a MAJOR compliment coming from you D'eux ... your stuff is VERY high quality (me crawls in a corner and weeps with envy) ...

Anyhow, I finally "bit the bullet" and downloaded the new 1.3. plugin (thanks Andy) and have started to use (some) of the new features.

I uploaded an update today (not very much, but hey, it's a start) ... (the download link is on the first post of this thread)

... see if you can find The Company's "access code" ;) ... (and no, it's not 30.365.78 :o ... that will be used MUCH later on)

When I opened the doors on the buildings I would get the sound of the door opening before my avatar actually pushed the button to open the door. The door would open along with the sound in first person view before my avatar pushed the button. In third person only the sound came first. Also in the book Sonavio report notes I think you mean colleague D'Lanor instead of college.I like the music when you are at the top of the hill. Just wished it played in more areas of the age. I like the age so far. Smooth line not boxy like some of the ages I have tried out. Many resemble the old Lara Croft Tomb Raider games. Good job. Good luck on your hard work. I'm using a mid range lap top. Not as good as my main pc. The video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 series.

I am glad you bumped up this old post because Sonavio is an awesome age.

The problems with the avatar animations will probably be resolved soon. I believe this version still has the Python animated doors. The new alcscript method that boblishman uses should make the sounds and doors wait on the avatar animation.

This may take some time to implement since there are many doors in this age. ;)
