Basic Instructions for Using Drizzle

Postby andylegate » Thu Apr 17, 2008 5:02 pm

Okay, guys....unfortunately, this comes at a rather bad time.......meaning that Nynaveve is fixing to move our server!! hehehe :D

However, I would like to announce some basic instructions for using Drizzle over on the GoMa forum. I've tried to include as much as possible, and have some ideas on making it more user friendly. There are also more things I'd like to add, but I'll have to wait until they are done moving the server.

But for now, here is the link, complete with screen shots:

Using Drizzle to convert Age Files

Now, the method I have posted over there, utilizes Netbean. This is for those people that don't have a secondary hard drive, or one that is partitioned so that one partition is a D:\ drive.

Again, this is NOT for the faint of heart. If you have problems copying and pasting files, then you may not want to try this.

If on the other hand, you have started to dip a little into python scripting, and using PlasmaShop, you may find this very educational.
Realize that it is not done, as I will be adding things, but for now, it will convert the files.

If you don't have a drive D: and don't want to fill up you HD with Java stuff(like me). I modded the executable to put the out-files into "C:/a/leftoff/output" you'll have to make those folders but otherwise... it should work fine. If you have a hex editor, you can change the drive letter in the drizzle executable yourself. :)

That's good Lontahv, and will help a lot of people that don't want to try and learn this, or mess with things. However, It doesn't address the SUM file problem, and some other issues associated with using that way. But, yes, if many people can use your mod to at least convert the files they want helps a lot.

Oh yah, almost forgot, you might want to list the folders that they have to make to use this other way too.

Oh dear... you reminded me that I never did get it to load into Uru without crashing. :o

Ok, noobies... use the java-beans( ;) ) thing. Sorry, I forgot my mod was so bad. :(

Andy> Thanks for reminding me. :)

You can make a new page using the gwiki tag like a URL tag, as well as link to any page. Like this.

Code: Select all
[gwiki=Main Page]Main Page[/gwiki]

makes Main Page

Hope that helps! :)

A question for Andy re: the Maintainers thread Drizzle tutorial and JDK 6:

JDK 6

The website is going to ask you what Platform you have. Now, I'm a moderate. Other people are Conservative....and some are Liberal.......

OH! Wait! They mean Computer platform!!!!

If you use Windows XP, then just pick Windows. If you use Vista, pick Windows x64.

The above is from your tutorial over at Maintainers.

Concerning which version of JDK 6 to use with Vista, Vista comes in two flavours 32 and 64 bit.

If you have 32 bit Vista I assume you pick "Windows" (which I do & did), if you have 64 bit Vista, then its "Windows x64"???

I'd have posted this over at your thread on the Maintainers site, but I can't register  , assume due to the move.
