GoW home page

I remember when GoW first came out, there was a home page, sort of like GoMa, sort of explaining what they're about... now, whenever I Type in http://www.guildofwriters.com, it takes me to the news page, and... well, it just doesn't look the same as the original home page... Is it possible to have the original home page, with a news link, instead of automatically linking to News? Is it supposed to be like that? or is it just me?

I don't agree that that would be necessary. By now most of the people who come upon this site know exactly what it is about.

However, it may be nice to have some kind of welcoming message on the front page.

Ya... I thought it was really kewl, now I just see a bunch of boxes... All the other guild sites have a home page... why don't we?

I agree. While using the phpBB home page template is standard, in our case it would be better to have an intro page.
About us, current status of MOUL and Cyan, image gallery, links to forums, news and wiki, links to other groups.

It could be done by keeping the current template but using a different forum than "news", or also making a custom template for a more dramatic effect.

Like a revision of the wiki it's one of those things that would be cool but no one seems to get around to do it because it takes time and all.
Although the home page isn't technically as 'open' as the wiki I'm sure if someone makes some nice content (intro text, gallery, whatever) the admins will have a look at it and possibly use it.

Well, I think it'd be kewl if the homepage was in the same format as the original home page, and there would be a link to "Age project news" (updates on age projects such as yinfara, Ahra pahts, showcase age, etc.) and perhaps a section for screenshots of player created ages. (and a link to the forum, and the wiki) And, of course a description about what we are,(partially, because if I show my friends in rl, I want them to know what it is, rather than seeing the current home page)

Ditto to what Aloys says. We need people to take initiative on things like this, not just throw out suggestions. Suggestions are fine, but they do little to get things done.

Also I think it would be better if we did things gradually so we don't put to much pressure on those who may want to help, but not be tied into doing a huge revision.

So would anyone like to write up a brief welcome for the web site? It doesn't have to be long or elaborate but a short few paragraphs describing what the GOW is, what our philosophy is, and who we are.

Kewl, that sounds awesome now, just to make sure, am I the only one who thinks there should be a home page? If not, who should we contact, to show our suggestion to? (e.g webmaster or something)
