Beginner - export age problem

Postby Makavelina » Tue May 27, 2008 11:18 pm

I do not see any troubleshooting section so I will post my problem here, hope it is ok

I am new in here, just started to learn how to build ages, and I have to say you all doing fantastic work here, thank you for this forum and all tutorials!

My problem is following: As written in Wiki section, I downloaded all recomended programs (Python, Blender, PRP), and installed it correctly (hopefully). Then I tried to download the "Function Check age" and wanted to try to export it, to see if it is working OK. Tutorial says there will be 8 FILES generated (with the exception of the _TexCache folder and the .age.log file), but for me there are only 7 FILES generated (with the exception of the _TexCache folder and the .age.log file), I dont know what I am doing wrong... Well after all I tried to copy those files into Uru dat folder and linked to FuncChkage succesfully. Tried to click the button to open the gate, but it was not working, avatar didnt click it. So I tried to export the age from Blender once more, copied the files again and tried to link, but error window appeared and game crashed.

I am not british or american, so I hope you can understand what I am trying to explain.. :D

Can someone help please? Or direct me to somewhere where I can find help? Thanks a lot.

Uhmm.... could you link to exactly where in the wiki it mentioned the function check age? I thought we removed all traces of that a while ago.

For clarification, the function check age is no longer up to date and may/will not work correctly with the latest version of the plugin. There is still a page that explains how to export it, but it should not be linked to from anywhere.

The link is here , the exact tutorial HERE. And I also had a problem with copying PRP files to Blender folder, because in Wiki it says "copy those files to 'scripts' folder in Program files -> blahblahblah -> Blender folder, but there is no 'scripts' folder in there, cause it is in Documents and settings -> Username -> Application Data -> Blender. I found out this one on forum so I got it right. So now I have no idea if i am doing OK or not... :D

Hi Makavelina, welcome! :)
It sounds like you are using the latest version of Blender (version 2.46), which explains why the scripts folder is in 'Documents and settings..'; this version is very recent and the tutorials were written for older versions. :) So there might be a couple differences like that between your version of Blender and the tutorials. But I think there are not too many differences, so you should be doing OK.

Also there is a troubleshooting FAQ located here. (you can find the link on the front page of the Wiki under the 'Useful Links' section. It might help you in the future. :)
