PyPRP Dynamic Actor Bug (Nightly Version)

If you feel like you're up to the challenge of building your own Ages in Blender or 3ds Max, this is the place for you!

Develop programs for a few years and have people randomly tell you something's not working, yet they offer none of the debug information that was given to them.

From that standpoint? Yes.

From yours? Probably not.

Or maybe it was the emphasized "MUST" and "if we CAN USE" that rubbed me the wrong way. Note that I had already called for debug information.

I (Several Posts Ago) wrote:The original author didn't post any crash information, so we can't help him with anything from the genuine, released plugin.

Have we seriously abandoned all tact? So he didn't post useful information, while using an unsupported version, and complaining he couldn't use the stable for no particular reason. That's still not cause to be rude. Tersely point out that he must provide information yes, but sheesh.

Ok, here is the call stack I keep getting when I export my age into URU then link into it with the 1.4 stable version of the plugin.

Code: Select all
Exception type: Access violation
Call stack (14 levels):
 0x0047658B
  0x005D83D9
   0x005D84F8
    0x005D8A53
     0x005D9132
      0x004D3E19
       0x004D5709
        0x004E3353
         0x004CFE8F
          0x6D9D7411
           0x6D9D01A8
            0x6D9DFD62
             0x6DA2F9F8
              0x6D9DED39
<end>

If you can use this and you find something wrong tell me. Now the strange thing is when I am in 3rd person I usually won't get a call stack and I can freely go around my age until I get the blue screen of death (it is a graphics card problem only I have, stupid Intel). And if there are any .elf files you would like to see, just ask for it. I looked through a few and nothing seemed wrong, but you may have them just in case. ;)

Hmm, your not the first person to give me this particular stack dump (unless your the one who posted this before). I've looked into it, but I don't really know what the problem is yet.

[EDIT]I'm leaning towards the idea that this is an issue with the Intel graphics chip.

This sounds like a graphics issue, so do us a favor and post your DX Diagnostic Report.

To get that, go to the "Run" prompt and type in dxdiag and press okay. There's a button on the dialog that will come up called Save All Information, hit that and post the resulting text file here.

Indeed, reading the back of my PoTS box, gives this warning, Laptops not supported, many laptops use an integrated graphics chip from intel.

Ok now here you are. Now yes, I do have a (very crappy) Intel Video Card :x (but my computer is a desktop, not a laptop). That stupid thing always causes trouble. But here is the txt file that you wanted.

DxDiag.zip
The DirectX diagnostics txt file with my computer's up-to-date information.

There you go. If you find anything wrong tell me. I just hope it isn't because I have to get a new video card. My computer doesn't have room for one. I have a VERY SMALL case and I can't fit anything into it. I am in the process of getting money for a new computer but that could take time. So please tell me what you find.

Here's your problem...

Card name: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family

Uru: CC doesn't support the express chipset family (the fact that you can explore for even a little bit is shocking). Looks like it's time for a new computer or graphics card.

I feel your pain btw. This is what I use everyday.

If you have a PCI express slot, just go down to your computer shop and buy a 8800GTS 512, this is what I have, and makes mince meat out of what I had before

You can even use this card in a shuttle computer case, and they are very very small computer cases
