Oh, I see what you mean. If you use alcscript but let PyPRP sort the defaults the error will happen.

Any reason why this is?

Also, just how do you do sprite-making outside the logic properties? I'm hoping I won't have to make alc-script for each one (as I'm planning quite a few).

Under Materials use the zOffs. I have set it at 2 for my sprite but it really depends on the number of transparent objects in your age.

Oh look, someone is making a sprite section on the wiki!

No.... They don't.

MOST people ONLY use the logic properties.

I have sprites and they work fine with 1.5.0. (using ONLY logic properties) ... (and a z-off of 1)

Yes, I misunderstood that at first as well. He means they use alcscript AND set the flags. It is only when PyPRP finds no flags in the alcscript and needs to set the defaults itself that the error happens.

And by "people" I guess he means the devs since the sprite alcscript has not appeared in a tutorial yet.

Regardless, however this is being developed, sprites must (in my opinion) be simple to implement for the basic type (light flares). There's a "bilboard" buttom in Blender, any chance that can be wired to the sprite-ification thingy? (technical term)

sprites are quite easy already ... the trick is making the model point in the right direction ... (in Local and global) ... then you just add the logic properties ...

In LOCAL view "You need to have the plane fit in the XY plane perfectly, and have it's normal face away from the Z axis." ... check out THIS

Ok, scratch what I said about zoffs. The devs have decided to move that feature to passindex. I guess we just have to roll with the punches... *sigh*

Alright, my sprite is still not rotating. I have the proper logic flags and it seems oriented properly. What's going on?

The original tutorial waaaaay back on Alcugs, has you create the plane, the rotate it so that the normal face Z axis us pointing in the negative direction first (down) (means you need to be in Edit mode with the Normals On).
Then move the plane ever so slightly down (towards the negative) along the Z axis.

Then leave Edit Mode and rotate the object so that they Y axis is pointing straight up.

I've found if I don't follow this EXACTLY (including moving the plane slightly in the negative Z direction) that my sprites do NOT work.

Here's the link to the Alcugs tutorial:
