Gahreesen type possible?

Postby andylegate » Mon Jul 07, 2008 8:47 am

With what we have now, I've been having a gimmering of an idea here.......

It seems to me that it's now possible to do the animation like we have for Gahreesen when entering the large Training building.

I could use this in Zephyr, in that, I could move all my caves and tunnels, WAY below Zephyr itself. When the avie approaches the cave entrance, I could have it do just like Gahreesen now that we techincally have "responders" in that the avatar is warped down below where the cave is.

Since Visregions still do not work, this would help some I think in that if the caverns are far enough away, plasma is not being so taxed in trying to render everything, including the things that can't be see.

What y'all think?

Looks to me like Nadnerb is about to need them visuble reejohns himself, soon enough, judging by his entries in the "spooky island" thread (gorgeous screenshots there, btw, I must say), so I'm wondering if it may not be worth waiting just a little bit longer. :9

I always wondered if this was the reason for the distance between the regions in Gahreesen, or if it was related to the use of subworlds, or if it was simply a random whim of the designer.

I hope we can nail down Visual Regions soon, considering the age I'm working on has literally close to 200 full scale buildings that will eventually, I hope will one day be fully modeled inside and out, the use of visual regions will most certainly be necessary.

They're in the plugin... Whether or not they work is a different story. I did notice that only the kIsNot style is exported though, which is very stupid IMO... Well, when my age requires visregions... Yeah :\

Hmm, there is a "warp offset" var in the subworlds. This warps you to a specified location and into a subworld. :D

This is not hooked up with alc-script because I didn't know if it'd be useful.
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).

I've had working visRegions in my shell since I first implemented them in PyPRP. When the kIsNot issue is resolved, I'll redo all of the visRegions in my shell and double check that they work, but I've had no problems. :|
