No PyPRP option when I export

Postby Metabasalt1 » Tue Jul 08, 2008 8:10 pm

I am updating from blender 2.45 to 2.46, and bumping up PyPRP to 1.5. I installed all the software, and found the scripts folder for blender. I copied all the src files to the scripts folder, and thought I was done. When I went to export my age, there was no PyPRP option. Any ideas how to fix this?

Did you restart Blender when you installed it?

You may have multiple scripts folders if you installed Blender 2.46 over 2.45. Which scripts folder did you install PyPRP in?

...and if that doesn't do it (assuming you did a full_wipe -> new_install), try bringing up a scripts pane and pick the "Update menus" menu item.

OK ... it does sound like you are using Vista (I had the same issue when I upgraded to 2.46) which has a choice of where to install your files.

Once it´s borked, it best to do a complete uninstall of Blender ... PLUS ... once it is uninstalled, THEN do a searches for:

"acl"
"uruprp"
"blender"

to make sure you have completely removed ALL remaining blender folders (I was shocked that I had quite a few!)

Now, once you know your machine is "Blender free" ... reinstall Blender 2.46 ... and choose the SECOND (radio button) installation option ("use installation directory", or something like that).
(DO NOT BLINDLY KEEP CLICKLING THE "NEXT" BUTTONS DURING THE INSTALL ... YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THIS OPTION ...if you want your .blender/scripts folder to be in the C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts folder! )

That instalation will put your .blender/scripts forlder where it used to be before ... and you'll be able to find it easily ... to put the new 1.5.0 plugin files into.

Wow...lots of replies overnight! You guys are fast. I deleted all my old 245 folders, and did a clean reinstall of 246. Manually selecting where to put the scripts folder I think really helped as Bob suggested. Anyway, my problem is fixed! I can find the PyPRP option when I go to export. Thanks.

Glad you got it fixed ... usually, the "problem" folder is "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data ... (even with XP)
