I've just been to Paht's for a first look and it's really like Robert said ' getting some christmas gifts' :) It's so exciting to see what's behind that gate. You have done an immense work all of you!!

But! I can't get to shell 232 - tried sneeking up on it from different directions, very slowly, one step at a time, waiting, but no. I shall of course try again - a maintainer never gives in ! And thank godess I had my suit on, there is something very HOT in a certain place...

So, what happens when you walk near shell 232, ametist? Did you wait for 10 minutes for it to stop loading? Or does it just hang there?
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

(cough) It may take longer than 10 minutes, depending on the machine and RAM and whatnot.

Don't be surprised if your HDD starts making horrible chewing sounds.

Katreeny, this is why one doesn't apply subsurf. ;)
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).

That lesson can be taken as learned.

Now I need to learn what to use instead of subsurf.

SSSSssshhhh.....That dang Python has had me cornered for days.....Hold on a second.........plink......................thunk........a small pineapple shaped object lands in the midst of the tightly coiled mound of Python.

RRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*pop*

Whew that was a close one, Give me a hour to clean out the remaining python and I'll post the structure soon.

P.S. Now that the contest is over I will ask for the help I needed.

Can someone please explain in nice easy baby steps how to code a push button?

Robert The Rebuilder wrote:Sorry about that, Grogyan. To fix this, just download the zipped Pahts.pak file below and put it in your URU's Python directory:

Pahts.zip

Once I get to a wired connection, I'll make new versions of the Ahra Pahts distributions that include this fix.

Thats ok, stuff happens.

I'll pop this over on the score sheet that way people can find it easily

Well it took just 3 minutes with 2GB of RAM to load that, I know I just timed it.

How many levels of subsurf did you put on the objects?

On my machine I was able to visit 232 pretty fast. 4Gb of ram must have helped.

Katreeny, for starters you will have to decide per object how much detail is enough. Most objects will never be examined from up close and are only passed. Sometimes only a few faces is enough to make a great rock. Have a look for instance at the pillars I used in my shell. They are simple tubes with not that many faces. The detail is in the texture. And I could probably have done even better. Good texturing is the key to using less faces.

Looking at Cyan's ages you will notice that only some objects have a higher polygon cound. Especially smaller ones. The bigger ones are all very low-poly.
