And again, this is why I brought up unpacking the files. I had an age I'm working on, 42,605 faces. You know how big the blend file is. 6 megs. Reason is I make sure to unpack the age when I'm working on it. This considerably cuts down on the file size, allowing for less memory errors upon export, and still let you have a large poly count. (packed that blend file is 56 megs, unpacked its 6.7.) Once I'm done working on it for the day I just pack the file up again and save it. When I start again I unpack and viola, no memory errors, large poly count.

So, you can have an unpacked .blend file when exporting it, and the textures will still show up in the age?

If that's the case, other than when sending the .blend file to someone, when should I have the files "packed into blend"?

(I'm just confused about when the blend file should, or should not be packed)

You said it; when it's convenient.
For portability, a single file, that can still be used as-is (without extra unarchiving and reestablishing of searchpaths), is easier to deal with, but if you have a work directory set up and stay within it, keeping resources separate, is more flexible and results in modestly sized project files. :7

Generally speaking as long as you keep your files in the same places. (IE a structured workplace with a folder devoted to Textures, one for Sounds, etc. And don't move the Blend File, you don't really need to pack the file. However, as I said, I pack mine upon ending an age session building, then save. To ensure if I delete anything in the folders that I may need, or move said folders or blend file, the textures stay intact.)

One more thing, When exporting my age, should it be packed or unpacked? (or does it not matter?)

And I always keep my blend file in my Uru TPOTS Dat folder, is that a good place place to unpack my blend file?

No, no,OH NO NONONONO!

Wizards you may apply to your Uru folder sometimes deletes file it doesn't recognize. Also, Windows doesn't usually respect files that are not in "Documents And Settings".

So, if you had a system-restore thing that said it wouldn't delete your "data" it'd just rollback the program settings you'd lose all of you age.

I like to keep my age-sources (with Windows) in a folder either on the Desktop or a folder in My Documents. Then just export direct into the dat folder.
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).

YYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......what Lontahv said....

You should NEVER put anything in your dat folder that is not an age file!

Keep your Blend files, textures, etc in a separate folder on your hard drive. That way if you goof, especially if you're deleting files or something, you don't have an accident with your actual game files.
