Can swim-regions conflict with other regions?

Postby ametist » Sun Sep 14, 2008 10:11 am

I had trouble with my sittingmod-regions and I tried about evrything to make them work. The alscript was ok, also the object it self, checked and checked. And in the end I started to take away things added later,( you know the drill ;) ) and after removing the swim-region they worked! So now I don't make that big swim-regions any more :)
But it would be nice to know for sure?

Well, this has happened to me with ladder regions. So basically, don't put any ladder or sit inside swim regions, as they won't work.

try adjusting the size or your swim region so that you can have a sitting mod. This may mean increasing land height to make it possible to to place another trigger region such as a ladder or anything else

Unless you were planning on having a floating seat in the middle of the water

I made a hexagonal pool. It had a square swim region and a hexagonal swim surface. I had a ramp built on one end of a pool but the avitar tried to swim all the way to the edge then stood up. I cut a hole in the swim surface and he put his feet down and walked up the surface naturally. When he walked around the edges of the pool that had swim regions extending under them he didn't try to swim because there was no swim surface.

It's a good idea to save as many polys as possible by using simple forms for your regions. You don't have to accept the default square swim region or surface that the plugin creates. You can build a surface or volume mesh to your liking and make it a region by editing it in the plugin. If your areas don't overlap then your logic won't conflict.
