CopyDrawMode ?

Postby andylegate » Fri Nov 14, 2008 5:58 pm

Hey guys, been a bit since I've had to use this, but I'm looking for Copy Draw Mode.....and I don't see it anymore...mater of fact, I don't think I've seen that handy dandy button since Blender 2.44.......

Can someone kindly direct me to where the blender people moved it? And please don't tell me they got rid of it, that was such a useful thing, I'd have a hard time believing that.....

Its one of those things that got changed in 2.46 and again in 2.48

Try looking in the edition buttons whilst in edit mode

I have, and it's not there, or if it is, they changed the name.

Used to be, you could select a face of an object and then set it to how you wanted: like Two Sided and Alpha, then you would select all the other faces you want that applied to and click on Copy Draw Mode, and tah-dah! They all went to that. Saves lots of time instead of having to select each face and do that.

In Edit mode make sure the face you want to copy is the active face (shows up speckled). You probably have to select it last to make that happen. Go to Editing (F9) and find the Texture Face tab. Hit the first Copy button.

Edit: Or in the 3D window do Ctrl+C and then choose Active Mode.

Okay, the way I got it to work was:

select one face, set it how you want (IE: Alpha or opaque, etc), then click on the "copy" button.

Then select all the faces you want to also have the same settings and hit the "copy" button again.

However, that only works for those buttons (Opaque, Add, Alpha, etc). If you also need to use the other buttons (IE: Two Sided, Halo, Billboard, etc), you need to also click on the copy button for those.

Why they decided to break it up into two copy buttons is beyond me.

Because sometimes you don't want to copy everything I guess. One thing I am very glad they have split up is the Apply function. You can now apply scale and rotation separately. :)
